Why would you trust your life to a 50 plus year old engine harness? I have taken many out of cars and they are stiff and crusty and full of breaks in the jackets. They are fires waiting to happen. I just took one out of an Olds and no way I would use it. Reproductions are readily available. Under dash harnesses are sometimes good if car was treated well. They are often full of splices however. Really think about this.
I can order in new ones for you if you decide to go that route and save you some $$$ from Retail Pricing. I carry the Lectric Limited Brand - Made in the USA from the Factory GM Blue Prints. Todd / Stage 1 Restoration .
I have to say I just worked on my 1968 engine compartment harness and I was pleasantly surprised by the condition of it? Maybe it the moisturizer in our air in Seattle. The insulation all appears to still be pliable and there are no breaks at all! Lucky me. At at least that's one less project.
I wonder if salt is a contributor to that. My car came from northern California to Seattle. I was shocked by the great state of the engine compartment harness. As I stated elsewhere I have worked on many newer (80's 90's) cars in which the harness was completely garbage. I would think that maybe mine had been replaced(possible), but I have owned the car for 30 years...
I don’t think it salt tgat effects them here as plastics fo well here. I think it’s the scorching hot summers we have combined wit cold winters
I have this one listed on ebay. Read the description on the listing. If interested I can take it off ebay and sell it in the board. https://www.ebay.com/itm/203223453135
