I've looked the places I know, ex mobile.de and blocket.se etc... The problem is the prices.. The first link, the 1949, is priced at almost $48000.. Think I just have to wait until the right car comes up, and then just be fast on closing the deal.. Thank you for looking..
I respect an individuals preference on color. The lower front fender rust pictured is as I previously mentioned I believe the only rust on the car but I will confirm that. The history is that this car spent its entire life in California, was purchased and moved to Michigan within the last 6 or 7 years and has been in a dry dry garage ever since. The owner has 2 other 49 Buick's both Super convertibles so this was an informed purchase. The car is 100% stock and all trim/stainless is present and I'll scrutinize for door dings when I get additional pictures.
500 with an overdrive should be good for the Autobahn https://detroit.craigslist.org/wyn/cto/d/lawrenceburg-cadillac-1948/7276081428.html
i gotta have a walk down to the gasstation and see if this one still creeps around. Never got around asking why it was there in the first place. https://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/buick-in-the-cold.340717/#post-2878472 Patrick
That's $80.. A couple of years ago, you could just put a envelope with $300-400 in the clove compartment, and then your car was apperently road legal for 2 years more.. Cars with aftermarket turbo's, rust issues etc could drive right through.. Until the goverment found out. Now they make controls, and if they catch the Inspection place they get heavily fined.. It could be s simple thing like a broken bulb.. Third time you get caught, you lose your license to inspect togheter with and even bigger fine..
I found this old thread, and sent a text to the number.. Americans get all spooked when a overseas number tries to call them.. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/1950-buick-special-straight-8-air-ride.1049412/ And this one, but after using reverse image seach, I can only find it on shady sites.. I would buy this in a heartbeat.. http://classiccardb.com/buick/613489-1950-buick-sedanette-special.html
The airbags has to go, that's just to obvious.. I've been informed that if the car sits on a frame, newer than 1976, that even if you try to make it legal ( special very expensive testing, only done by 1 or 2 in the country ) it can't be.. After 1976, you have to have seatbelts, and there's no legal way to do that..
That charcoal grey '49 Super near Munich mentioned by Patrick looks like a real winner if still there and available. Again not for nothing: both rear fender spears seem intact.
These were all the additional pictures I was able to grab at the moment. The garage is filled with cars and boats for the winter. I did find a second spot of rust and it is in its own picture. Very bottom of rocker panel on DS of car. Otherwise very solid I really didn't see any issues in the stainless on either side of the car. Overall very solid very nice car. FWIW Every nut and bolt removed on the car was done with simple hand tools there was no power or heat needed to loosen things up.
Look at this!!!! https://www.facebook.com/marketplac.../?ref=search&referral_code=marketplace_search A home run for what you want. And extremely rare, sedanets tapered off fast after two door hard tops came out. There were about 20k '49 Roadmaster Sedanets but less than 2k in '50. Gone in '51.
$42.000 Sure is a nice car, but don't think my couch is big enough to find enough pennies.. I've been sent this link to, at $35.000 it's a over my budget.. https://m.facebook.com/groups/413512055514755/permalink/1701545310044750/
Soren, Reporting back on the 49 in Germany, near Munich... I checked with the mechanic where the car is still parked. Not the friendliest guy in town or maybe wrong moment as he was cussing at his computer when I walked up to him. Anyway the car is not for sale. He is supposed to repair it. Apparently something wrong with the rear axle and he is expecting parts. I offered him to help looking for parts (having V8Buick and the great support in mind) but he declined. Ok fine... On a sidenote if I was his customer I would not want to see my car stashed away as he did this sedanette. GLWSearch Patrick
Patrick, I appreciate you asking.. Thank you.. I wrongly thougth the US economy wasn't great pt, but I was wrong.. It's seems like car prices is high at the moment.. I'll keep looking, every day
I don't like the lines in the 48' and earlier.. The rear side windows has that forward lean on them, and the Norse is too high compared with the fenders.. I've bid on a few cars in BaT now, and it seems like the cars sell much higher than if it wasn't an auction Thanks for posting..
Thanks for still posting.. I did end with buying the one in Fresno, or so I thought.. The couple selling it all came down with Covid, so I waited and giving them time to recover. Long story a little short, I wired them $100 as requested by the man, so we were sure all bank info was correct, and the night before the money came into their account he sold the car locally.. We did talk about the money first coming in tuesday due to bank holiday, but that apperently slipped their minds.. Why go through all that hassle with video and speaking on the phone? They wired my money back..
This one is for sale in Denmark.. $35.000 I like the style, but straight 8 with manuel gear i don't like..
