I did a frame on restoration about 5 years ago that includes: Paint, Interior seats, carpet and headliner. At that time I had the 350 engine rebuilt, including all new internals as well as the 4 barrel Quadrajet Carb. Accessories Include new alternator, brake booster and master cylinder, A/C Compressor converted to R-134, and power steering pump. The turbo 350 transmission was rebuilt as well by Shifters Transmission in Jacksonville. The car runs and drives extremely well and can be seen this coming weekend March 26-28 at the Daytona Spring Turkey Run at Daytona Speedway. Unfortunately, Buick did not keep accurate records of production numbers, but a noted rebuilder in Pennsylvania I believe states no fewer than 1600 or more than 1800 were made is 1972 nearly 50 years ago. Verify by googling 1972 Buick Skylark Sun Coupe and see how many you can find currently for sale My number is posted in the ad and you can call or text with any questions if you want to see it in North Florida or at Daytona. The car has power steering, power brakes, working factory a/c. Power windows, power drivers seat, tilt wheel and working mileage minder. Car also has front power disc brakes. Clock and radio are not working.
Funny, the only way I can picture my stripper '70 350 4-sp (Seamist w/Sherwood painted top) done is w/those hubcaps, which is how it was ordered. Only non-perf. options were AM, remote mirror, deluxe Steering Wheel & Wheel Covers, WW tires, & tinted windshield. Have a mint set for it. Maybe I'll change my mind. I like being different too. Dog dish would look good & fit w/the stripper theme. '70 Super Sport wheels maybe. Will have you make a window sticker once I decide exactly how it'll be equipped. Might delete the radio & remote mirror & prob. add HD cooling & change WW to redlines. Might have you make 1 for for how orig. equipped & one for the changes I make.
I had this 72 Suncoupe that was loaded with options. It had original paint and interior and carpet was black with white interior. .
Interesting. From the wholesale order form it appears that there were two carpet options and black is not mentioned. Unless black was standard and you could equip it with a red or gold carpet.
Interesting. I never knew about the optional SunCoupe carpet colors. Could you post the whole form? Seems if those were options that the standard would be whatever color carpet would've come with the interior color chosen.
my dad bought one off the showroom floor that had black carpet. Being the only motor head of my siblings so I got to picked the red one in the showroom. $3400 out the door, never forget dad paying it all in cash.....green backs, a big stack in a paper bag. Fernando
What I posted was it for the Suncoupe options. It had to be ordered with the Skylark 350 package (code AA). I don't have the back of the order sheet that listed interior color combos.
