Hi ,I'm about 6'1 and I need all the room I can get .I'm thinking on getting some relocation brackets for the front seat.also I figured since my steering wheel isn't in the best shape ,maybe someone can lead me in the right direction for a quality aftermarket wheel that's a touch smaller? Thanks everyone.
you could run a smaller steering wheel from someone like grant if you wanted too. i really dont think you need more seat room honestly im 5'11" and i dont have to push my seat all the way back in my cars. the steering wheel is alot closer to you than a new car. just the nature of the beast. you could shorten the column if it bothers you.
Perhaps a steering wheel with less dish ? I'm 5'11" but long in the legs. I'd like some more arm room too.
I had the same issue with my '67. The steering wheel was too close and it was not a comfortable feeling. I remedied the situation by first installing a later model Buick "comfort grip" sport wheel on it which has a shorter dish and it did help. Later, I installed seat track extensions that moves the seat back 2-3 inches and that really did the trick! The final thing I did was install a tilt column and now it has spacious feel to it.
ive never felt tight in my legs i have a 32 inch inseam but arms i can agree but its how all old cars are. people in the 80s and back liked the steering wheel alot closer than modern people do. which in truth you are supposed to have it closer to your body to prevent fatigue in spirited driving. look at most stock cars the steering wheel is super close. apparently when you arms are stretched it fatigues them more but to me it takes getting used to. i guess its that personal space thing. the comfort grip wheel though looks the best of any wheel.
