Nice documentary Guy!! Is this the same car your running today? If so I'm happy to see I'm not the only one whos been messin' with the same car since '85
Oh yeah its the same car I have owned it since 77 like you I bought it with 50000 mile on it for 1700.00$ The tires and rims are next then I show motor rebuild. Like Fox 8 coming up next. lol
In my signature is a better video It got deleted when I changed signature just look for 350 on nitrous
Pretty thorough coverage thru the years. Nice job. Forgot about that thread. You still have TOO much time on your hands!
After all this I finally got the rims and tires on it then later had the motor rebuilt after the crank broke at the track in 1993. Yes I had the motor rebuilt by a Race shop as I wanted everything done right. After about 6 months a spring broke and I had to have the head fixed and later on I changed the cam. More info later on I will try to add to this as time goes on as there is more to this story I just have to find my pics and info, then there is the last 25 years. LOL Think about this, the SP3 intake is now 5 years old where the hell is everyone at?

This will take you to they early days of me building this car in the nitrous section I start to change cam What can we do since 2017
I gotta see if I have any old fashioned pictures on paper also It’s not like today everyone has a camera in their pocket.
I know of one that has never had fuel ran thru it. I will move the cam change over here since this is my history. I have used 2 cams already plus the Comp cam I used in the stock motor this will be cam number 3 no roller just a solid cam that I bought to go in between the Lunati cam and the TA 510. here are the cam cards from those the one above the Lunati is the TA 510 cam I ran in 1995 to 2000 The new one is the Schneider solid lifter cam This cam is in the middle of the other two so we will see what happens. I will probably sell the Lunati cam and lifters I kept them in order I liked the cam had good street manners and came out of the hole good. It does start to give up after 5500 but I always ran it up to 6 grand. I ran the best of 13.31 with the cam and settled in at the 13.50 range with a 3500 stall and 373 gears with a 28" tall tire. I also ran 11.81 on nitrous a 125 shot, and with a 75-80 shot I ran 12.31 at Quaker in 2020 at the Buick nats there. Since I have the SP3 now I feel we can run up a few more rpm and hopefully go a tad faster. Here is the run from 2005 at Norwalk at Buick nats I got to 3rd place that year until I did a red light and broke out at same time. At the 3rd round the car starts to run faster i was getting this figured out but then a we got rained out the next few years at Norwalk then I ended up losing my job so by 2008 I did not drive car much. But now back in gear and can now do some things to the motor now. here are the runs from then This is a long time ago but car still runs close to this When I changed to the 2004r trans I ran 13.60 so I did slow down a tad but I switched from a 3500 stall to a 3000 stall and it did slow my 60 ft down some. You would not think that makes that much difference but it does I run a 1.90 60ft now before I was getting a 1.75-1.80 60 ft doin't look like much but that is about a 1/2 car or at least a fender. The big heavy car with a 350 likes a 3500 stall a lot better. Did it have to go to 3500 to move the car? NO, about 2 grand got the car moving down the rd I still have that 350 trans with the 3500 stall attached to it might have to sell that one too. I can hear Mart yelling at me now. lol Today I am going to pull the rest of the springs out of the heads and go with a single one to break in the solid cam I also bought the lifters with the EDM hole in it hope this works out I have the TA cover with the oil mods and large gears so it should handle it. I still have no wear on the gears on cam and distributor
Lol,, yep, sell all that stuff you're never going to put back in. Cams, that TA dual plane, convertor, trans, those old headers, etc...someone will put it to use...TU. You have good documentation on the combos, maybe you should write a book!
Those Buick nats coming up at Quaker good place to start. Book? Hmmm... 4th cam in this 350 yeah, lol I guess I do have a lot of documentation.
Sounds like you do have quite a bit of documentation on your 350 builds It would be an interesting read of your progression from then till now. I don’t have much from my beginnings as far as pics or documentation, I just did stuff and go. I did a lot of towing with my GS, boats and tow barring cars up from North Carolina, I did a lot of stuff you “shouldn’t do” to a classic car
My internet was down for a few days making progress. I got all the inner springs out now that turned out pretty good not too hard. I had to get new longer pushrods as the solids have the cup lower in the lifter so I tested putting in the pushrods and rockers and looks like everything checks out the adjustments had to move very little to get to the .020 lash needed. Do you need to take solids apart and clean them out like hydraulic lifters? It looks like the pushrods need cleaned out you can see some kind of crap inside will have to see if this comes out or it is just part of it. They are Comp cams pushrods.
Yes clean the pushrods and lifters! Blast Brake Kleen thru the pushrods then blow thru with compressed air. I was surprised how much crap was in mine from Comp Cams, you could see the grit
