Got a couple shots yesterday morning when I had it out to stretch it’s legs without getting bugs in my teeth.. waiting on exhaust guy to call me with an open spot
The front end is completely rebuilt now. It wandered all over the road on the test drives....pretty much anything connected to the center link was toast. All of the control arm bushings were dry rotted, so we replaced those as well...and I'm glad we did because they were way off center. I just need to point the tires in the right direction. For some odd reason, both horns decided they didn't want to work anymore. I had tested them prior to painting, but they wouldn't go once installed on the car. I found a low note horn in my stash that worked, and I sourced another one here on the board. I got that one in the mail yesterday, so I thought it would make a good video to kind of go through what I had to do to figure out the horn issue.
Swinging back around to this one... We were able to deliver the car to the owner at the GS nationals last month without a hitch. We also made the decision to enter into the Concours (there is no E at the end of that word) class to see how it would fare. Hindsight says we should have gone into the 100 point show, but I'm taking the results from the judging as an education in what I need to look for next time. And also how in-depth this type of judging is compared to even the BCA 400 point classes. We ended up with a Bronze award, but were ONE POINT away from Silver. Most of the deductions are easy fixes. Overall happy with the results! And that was a hell of a fun event...
The car looked fantastic, Adam. Thanks to you and the owner for getting it to the Nats and having it on display.
Aftermarket shocks front and rear (I didn't paint them grey) Undercarriage is virtually untouched except for new suspension parts and exhaust Incorrect muffler hangers (we elected to have someone local make the exhaust for less than half the cost of Gardner) Incorrect alternator pulley Battery (It's an AC Delco but for Concours they require period correct....didn't know that) Dirty emission hose Wrong insulator on power steering hose Cogged belts Dirty firewall at AC box Wrong AC muffler insulation (the aftermarket hose has newer style insulation) Some incorrect hardware on door panels (not sure where, probably the screws on the bottom) Incorrect Core support bushing? Missing red paint dab on hood latch rod Body color showing on windshield pillar (inside, should be blacked out)
Drove it to the grocery store Tuesday and she is definitely an attention getter. Now I just need more sunny days.
