I think the top looks like a good car to buy. But the underneath, the door jambs, the rear glass corners and the headliner tell a different story. If it could be bought in the mid teens it’s a decent buy IMO.
Area of concern for me - you'd have to get under the car with a ball peen hammer or the like to confirm, but my experience is this is not good news from a visual standpoint.
For a car that's almost 50 years old and that's the only thing you can find, I'll take my chances. I agree with others this might be a great deal. Seller states car was undercoated in the early 70's. Looking at the pictures that frame looks decent for it's age, and after 50 years things are going to flake off. That's a smoking deal, someone's going to get a nice car.
I think the big question I have, is... what do folks think they are bidding on? Time capsule? Show car? Visually appealing driver? If someone wants to buy it as a parts car, I'll take the interior (and bumper strips)
Seriously. It's as if any car that isn't showroom quality deserves to be salvage for a thousand bucks
Personally, I like the car a lot and applaud the seller for lots of good photos. However, that frame is not the only thing {but probably the worst thing} I see. As someone already said, it would make a nice driver for mid-teens, provided that frame can be further inspected. It's not the old Ziebart or Rusty Jones that concerns me, it's all the new undercoating sprayed just about everywhere. Seems like a $40 lipstick job to me. What was the purpose in it?
Hmmm. Just watched the new driving video posted... he was driving it about 10 minutes away from where I live.
Me (please forgive the shorts) with my 1972 GS350 from North Side Buick circa 1984. Purchased the car from my boss at the time, Bob Simon. He bought it new. This car was hit by a drunk and totaled not long after the picture.
I bid on it early on......... but didn't want to commit to anything other than a steal............ I still like the car. Even at $15K I think it's an OK deal. It would be a very nice driver.....
