Hello, I will be parting out a 1969 Buick GS400 4-speed convertible. I inherited this from my father, who was the only owner. It sat for 40 years in a warehouse, but the New York winters that it experienced during its 15 years on the road took its toll while it was sitting inside since 1984. The rust never stopped! The car is overall in driver condition (as parked in 1984), but the lower part of the car is completely rusted through. Me and my son were trying to restore it in memory of my father, but it is too difficult for us to continue the project. So, I will use the proceeds from the parts sales to fund my son's college fund, in that way my son will still have a connection with Grandpa through the car. The general problem I have is I do not know what these parts are worth, so I cant, right now, put specific parts up for sale. I also don't have a great idea of what is considered "good", "usable" and so forth. I would very much appreciate anyone who can reach out to me to offer some advice on how to proceed in parting this car out, or if you are interested in any parts. I am located in northern Virginia, near DC. I am not far from Carlisle, PA so I could meet folks attending a show. Please contact me through the message board. (Moderators - If this post is not appropriate here, please let me know. I am happy to comply. ) Thanks, Joe
If you can post some pics of the car that may help. I can also help with some value on items but your in good hands with George
Posting photos would help? Since you were thinking of restoring the car, maybe you could sell the car whole to someone else who wants to try that? You never know if the car gets restored, your son might get some $ for school and an opportunity buy the car back later ;~)
I wouldn't happen to have Stage 1 emblems on the hood would it? Just checking to see if it had that option.
Max, this was going to be my first suggestion... Pics of everything and go from there. However, there is more money in parts than the whole....
This is not a stage 1 car. I will post some pics in the morning. But the car is mostly disassembled. I very much appreciate the help and interest! Stay tuned...
Here are some pics I took before I started disassembly. It breaks my heart looking at these. I really wish I could just get the entire floor replaced by someone, but it is too costly.
Dick- take some pics of it now... Try and sell the whole thing in 1 shot Post these pics as well as what it is now and try and sell it complete. That's the easiest way, however, poorer $$ return. Parts: you're going to have to invest in "sweat equity"- which means multiple pictures of parts, many people that will want a bunch of pictures then pass, for those parts that do sell, shipping quotes, boxing, and shipping.. You will get a better return, just takes more time and equity....
I know we don't have the resources (time/people/$) to save them all but sure would be a shame to see it parted. Neat car. If anyone does take it on, I have a full '69 pass floor/rockers/cowl from a '69 AZ car that I'd sell - I don't live far from the OP.
If your parting put me down for all 4speed stuff console and the hood and rear if posi trac. Will come and pull parts myself
I might be interested in some of the parts as well as I'm restoring a 69 GS 350 and I'm in Northern Virginia as well. Can you get some pics of the engine bay?
Joe, I would be interested in buying the entire car and can come pick it up. I live in North Carolina. If you just want to sell parts I would be interested in any and all 4 speed parts (consolette, trans, shifter) Ram air breather bucket seats engine rear axle Also Dave Tumas may really need some parts for his car. Could you post a pic of the data plate ? He would need very specific date codes and I am sure he would really appreciate certain parts.
I will try to call you tomorrow and tell you about why I think I need to part it out. Maybe you have some info that would make me think about another option?
I will contact you if I go for a whole car sale. Thank you for the interest. I am trying to get an idea of what is still good and what is junk. I think the items you have listed are probably good driver condition. Let me start to get them out and post pics. Again, thanks for your interest!
I am trying to get pics and better descriptions of these items and I will post soon. Thank you for your interest. I appreciate it.
