Sorry to start another thread about portable jump starters. I lent my 600A Schumacher to someone a year back to find out the pull out plug on the back to re charge moves back and forth, "not up and down as intended" and it won't hold a connection unless you hold it in with pressure form your hand. He must of propped it up somehow on a wall socket?? Noticed this issue 1/2 a year ago and just let it go and as a message not lend tools to those who aren't family or close friends. Anyways I never felt that it was that powerful in the first place and I have probably had it for at least 5 years. Harbor Freight seems to be stocking alot more Cen -Tech starters than just the 3 they had way back then. I am planning on this one and other than being from Harbor Freight and a Cen-Tech could it be all that bad.
I have this one. Jump starts a diesel and fits in the glove box https://antigravitybatteries.com/pr...EFZzU_3YmI9etlCayQMNZ_0lEmNSqXxgaAmHUEALw_wcB
After my earlier thread on this I bought this one. I haven't needed it for the Buick yet but a couple weeks ago it jumped my 5.3L Sierra OK when the original battery died. https://www.amazon.com/Clore-Automo...ocphy=9001840&hvtargid=pla-435624969530&psc=1
This is the one I just got. Haven’t tried it out yet but had great reviews. https://www.amazon.com/TACKLIFE-180...SSSX/ref=dp_prsubs_3?pd_rd_i=B08BJMSSSX&psc=1
Just a thought about electrical anything, air powered anything from Harbor Freight, or anything starting with CEN- or Central in the name. Buy once, cry once. Buy it nice or buy it twice. Just my humble opinion. No need to flame me. I make my living with my tools.
I didn't think your thread was only 2 months ago. I'm going to go read it and see others opinions.. When you say OK when jumping your Sierra was it a complete dead battery? Obie455's TachLife is looking good though..
The accessories still worked, but there wasn't enough juice to crank the starter over. It just clicked when I turned the key. I hooked the JNC to it and it started right up after 5 or 6 cranks.
My 600A Schumacher won't spin a motor like mad but again it's more for the occasional "I let my lights on when shopping" type of jumper. That's what I read anyways. I haven't tried it on a really drained battery and maby it would of surprised me. Either way it's time for a new one..
I have had a harbor frt one for two years now and it has helped out about 10 times. Mostly others. That reminds me the Son-in Law has not returned it...
A bit of a necro post but ordered the same as yours from Amazon. I have seen it listed in at least 5 separate video's claiming to be in the top 5 or 10 jumpers available.. No frills like I like, not even a set knob to set it jump mode..
Ok so a 7 month old reply I went to jump a GMC Denali with my Shumacher 600XP which I replaced inner cell with a 9ah instead of the 5.5ah that wouldn't hold a charge anymore. Wouldn't even crank the motor one bit and even doing the direct car to car cable thing still didn't do a thing. Just to say this guy had his Denali jumped from AAA 1 hour before and he told the guy his battery was in good shape and most likely the alarm had a glitch and drained the battery over night.. I guess he goofed up as after 45 minutes of running it wouldn't start. TTNC, this JNC660 you recommend started it pretty much instant The battery needed to be replaced on the Denali. Biggest issue for this old reply is I read on the manual it should be stored in a place that doesn't get below 50F. How true is this and is it only a garage type of booster?
Mine is an Audew that the FarmProject Youtube guy liked. It stays in my trunk. It is Lithium-ion based so whatever the requirements for that are. It has jumped my Lexus 3.5L and my Stage 1 with no issues. The great thing about Li-ion is they hold a charge a lot longer than a lead-acid battery along with being much lighter.
They are heavy thats for sure. I am glad I got to test it for the first. I like that it's just a simple just put the clamps on the battery and go. No extra lights and ports to charge phones. I can use my cheaper units for that. I have 2 more units to test at some point. Not that I want a dead battery but for peace of mind that they work. One is the dreaded Harbor Freight 750 "which member Buick Sky likes" and a Walmart special thats really more for a air pump.
You just reminded me I should probably top off the charge on mine, I haven't used it in a few months. Glad to hear it worked well for you. The temp minimum I'm assuming is to preserve the life of the battery and get as much cranking amperage out of it as possible when you need it. Batteries don't like the cold. I keep mine inside the house all the time so it's not a problem. It doesn't take up much room and it's not something I use often, so I don't usually carry it with me everywhere like I would if I was a AAA tow truck driver or something.
