7027248 Date code 0374 should make this a factory replacement carb built in February of 1974....Please correct me if I'm wrong. Everything moves nice. Finishes look excellent. Was $250 + the ride. NEW PRICE $200 + SHIPPING
Looks like a Carter rebuild...doesn't have the circular ID tag. It also has the modern throttle shafts with the teflon coating, and the modern pump linkage and fast-idle cam. Nice looking. Does it have the bushings for the throttle shafts? They may not have been installing them in 74. I'd hit it if I didn't already have three 248's to my name: 2 on the bench and one on the engine. :Brow:
So you're thinking it's a rebuild of a service replacement carb? I don't see any throttle shaft bushings.... Thanks for the info, Len.
It looks like an authentic replacement, your description of it seems accurate to me. Was there any packaging with it showing what company did the actual rebuild?
No packaging aside from the black plastic tray and plastic wrapping shown in the pictures. I know I've seen a lot on here that the original finish on most of the parts is completely removed when the carb is rebuilt by most rebuilders. The finishes all look pretty true to me, but that doesn't count for much. Thanks again for the info.
Jared hasn't been on in a few years but I alerted him someone was interested in it thru another group he and I are in . I.m sure he will respond .
