I went on to RockAuto and did various searches. Obviously I failed. I believe the engine came out of a 73 originally. Maybe. Belt 7512 is 13/32 wide x 51-5/8" long. It is too short to reach way up high to that power steering unit. PS, is that PS pump supposed to be that high? Seems crazy but I can't figure out how else it would fit. I would guess I need a belt about 53-54" long. I also need to find my water pump pulley to check out the alternator belt. Any help?
If your PS belt rubs the water pump then you probably you have the incorrect brackets on the PS pump. If that's the case you can buy the big block brackets that place the pump in a lower position (see the circled photo below). The '67-'70 big block Brackets are reproduced and should be available separately from the kit if you ask: https://www.stage1restoration.com/?s=power+steering
Color me stupid, but where is the adjustment slot to rotate the pump to tighten the belt? And is the aluminum bracket the same, it is just the steel brackets that change?
The Power Steering Pump from 67-70 uses that same rectangular aluminum piece, but different front and rear brackets for the small and big blocks.
ahhhh, much less travel in that slot than this set I have. Ok, looks like I am going to be supporting Todd some more. Brackets ordered. Now to find that silly water pump pulley. Has to be here somewhere.
I'm fairly sure I have everything I need. Of course I also would have said that before I just spent almost $1000 this month on "things" that I need to do this or that. Whatever, I'm over it. Engine is sitting on mounts, transmission is sitting on tail housing. I had to remove the trans cross member mount in order to leave the starter wired and attached. Need to jack up the car to clear my gut and knock things around, drop wrenches and cuss a time or two and it will be all bolted in. Might just do that Friday. Beats shopping.
LOL, now that is a man that looked the photo over real close to notice that my motor mount bolts are not in place just yet. Good eyes man.
