Hello Pat. Put me in line because I'm very interested, but first... 1 - What size is the carburetor opening in the base? In other words, does it fit a Quadrajet 4-barrel? A Holley 4150 4-barrel? Or both? 2 - Also, how thick is the aluminum top? Thanks in advance.
Hey Guys, Yes the Chrome Base has a 5 1/8” Hole in it to fit any 4bbl. Carb. As far as the Thickness of the top it is 3/4” and that’s from the top of the fin to the bottom of the lip on the top. It’s pretty low profile. Thanks!
Hey Guys, As far as the Thickness of the top it is 3/4” and that’s from the top of the fin to the bottom of the lip on the top. It’s pretty low profile. Thanks!
Thank you Pat but I see that I didn't explain myself very well in regards to the thickness dimension that I was looking for. The "thickness" dimension I'm after is the thickness of the top piece in the area between the fins and the lip (I'm thinking of machining the fins off so that the upper surface of top piece is smooth. Of course, the lip will remain in place.) It may be necessary to use a micrometer on it, or maybe a 6" scale to measure how far the lip drops down from the bottom of the top-piece plus the height of the fins from the top of the top-piece, add them together and subtract the result from overall thickness (i.e., 3/4").... If you don't mind. Second question: Who did you purchase the air cleaner from? Sorry about the hassle Pat, but this air cleaner is something I've been in search of for the past 2 or 3 years (If the top is thick enough after the fins have been removed). Thanks again, Pat.
I am attaching 2 pictures below that I hope will answer your questions and clear this up. I purchased this item at a Swap Meet in NC last year, I had never seen one like it and it has some weight to it as well.
The $$$ are on the way. Check your PM inbox for details. And thank you for making this deal so easy to complete.
Hey Pat... The package arrived about 3-hours ago. Not only was everything inside safe and sound, I also saw the the air cleaner lid is pretty beefy. That'll be perfect for what I have in mind for it. Thanks again, Pat. You made me a happy camper.
