That’d work! Thanks for the comment on the hood! Yeah it’s nice having all this extra space and I’m still kind of getting the shop organized. Hopefully in the next week or so I’ll get the boat moved over into the other side of the shop which will free up this whole big side for nothing but glass work. It’s nice to not have to be moving molds on and off of work tables all the time. Plus I have the old orange GS clone sitting there that I can start working on as time permits. I want to use that whole front end for a mock up for a one piece set up. Even if that propane heater jacks up my monthly costs at least it’s only for a few months down here.
The first part of the waiting list is accurate, waiting on one reply for the next in line. I'll add the new names this week. Just finished up 2 hoods for bostonGSX as well as a fan shroud for the Jeep/Buick 350 combo. Built the shroud parallel with the last hood. The new compressor kicks butt, really sprays the thick gelcoat! Not to mention being able to have both molds in the "spray booth" at the same time as well as a small work table where I did the shroud. My supplier was out of the gray gelcoat so I tried the white. It came out nice, but it's a bit harder to see the little air bubbles that are present when you're working resin into the fiberglass. You have to work them out with a "bubble buster". I went back to the gray The jeep / Buick 350 fan shroud. Those two clearance notches on the bottom of the shroud (right side of picture) seems to weakens the design. If I did it over again, I'd leave them out and make a smooth transition. This shroud would never be mistaken for a NOS shroud, but considering the mold was made from an original shroud that had broken into 4 pieces, it came out OK.
Looks great! I used to be next in line, but my name got bumped back? Don't know if you saw my emails or posts here that I was ready to pay anytime?
Craig you've come a long way from that little garage at the house in AZ.... Awsome job on the continued improvements on your products. Keep it up. Hope to see you in BG in a few months.
We talked about this, you mentioned that at the time you weren't sure if you wanted one, I said if you change your mind I'll slip you back in but it'd be a few down the list since I had already spoken with people who were a go. You're not far off especially now with my new set up. Craig
Thanks man, yeah I'll be at the nationals. I've been trying to slip a little time in to work on the GS. I haven't run it since we were back in AZ. I've fixed a few little things, still have a few more. I want to get over to Silver Dollar Raceway shortly to see if it's still running good. Hammering it on the street isn't a real test since all you get is wheel spin! Need that sticky track and my slicks! Hope to see you in KY! Craig
Is there a new update on the list were people are at as of now and a time line to were your porducing the hoods? I have wanted to get on the list but was hesitant because of were the list was and a time line when i would be able to get one.
Hi Craig, Thanks for the reply. Something may have gotten confused, but I always wanted one of these beautiful hoods! I just didn't have the funds ready at that time, but now I'm good. Anywhere you can slip me in the list would be appreciated!
I am going through this site, Facebook and my email to make sure I have everyone interested. I should be home this weekend and will try and get it updated.
OK trying to get caught up! I did get around to taking a "second" hood and putting it on my car after cutting a small hole in the center about over the carb. My setup has a 455, TA SP1, 1" spacer and a Holley carb. Looks like about 4-4.25". This measurement is from the threaded boss in the center of the carb that you screw the air cleaner stud into.
What do you think the timeframe is like if I put myself on your list? Trying to decide if I want to cut a big ol hole in my stock skylark hood and do a stage 2 scoop or buy one of these great looking hoods from you.
Well i have not seen the new list from the second group that was to be put up so i would like to have my name listed on it. please update when you can thanks
I updated the hood waiting list on the first page (I know, FINALLY!). While hoods are my main focus, I am working on a few more interesting Buick parts as drying time permits! I'm bringing bostonGSX's bumpers to Bowling Green next month, save him some shipping! The first two people on my list for rear 71 bumpers are Ben99GTP and then Nitrous Fish. If either of you guys are coming to the nationals, I may be able to get a bumper complete before then and could bring that as well. Craig
