I have always used MSD #31183 universal wires and have had very good success. I recently purchased a set for my friends car and when I installed I noticed that the slightest bend to the multi angle spark plug end made the wire feel loose at the plug. I took one apart and the crimp was as thin as a sand blasted beer can. They are so flimsy if you bend them it feels like they will brake off. I reached out to local speed shop and he says they are made in China!!! Has anyone else had issues? Thanks
I bought mine so long ago. I'd hate to think that quality has suffered as of late, but it may have. I would definitely contact them. See what they say.
I called MSD to get a box repaired a couple years ago. The tech line was not helpful and would not give a repair order unless I gave them a CC number.. I ended the conversation.
I seem to recall there was trouble with knock offs of MSD (and other performance companies) products. As far as customer service a friend had trouble with his distributor and sent it to them. He got it back fully rebuilt at a minimal charge.

Thanks very much for the opinions. I am going to go with the Moroso on performance cars. I see lots of companies (Reher Morrison) use the 8mm Blue max and I am considering those. On a street/show car I am also considering the Jegs/Summit brands. They are made in the USA and reasonably priced when costs up here are out of control. The MSD is not great quality for an expensive wire. I have no problems when companies cut cost to save money but you can't charge a premium price for a sub par quality part,at least not with me. For the most part the Taylor Spiro Pro wires are the only ones I use. I like to be able to use the ends I want & the installed plug ends of the correct angles. Tom T.
I got my wires from napa. Put first set on in 80s and exchange at store every 10 years or so. Belden wires are guaranteed for life! Nice length also for my 350. Blue color.
Is it true that since holley bought out many brand that the quality has suffered? I've noticed a lot of their products now sport made in China logos or was it just edelbrock that was proud of that logo?

I don't think that Holley bought out many brands. Many brands were bought out by Monomy Capital Partners, a private equity firm. They own more than twenty five automotive brands that include Holley, Fast, MSD, Mallory, B&M, Hurst, Moroso, QA1, Hooker, Hay's, Hilborn, Accell, Mr. Gasket, Earl's, Flowmaster, and Hooker. These were all purchased in the last eight or nine years and are all now made in China. The prices didn't go down, just the quality.
Contact them and ask. Ask about all the parts and sub-assemblies, too. "Legally" "Made in USA" allows for a certain percentage of foreign components.
Figure the switch to offshore manufacturing by all the companies owned by private equity firms.. their first priority will be profit margin, to increase their stock price/dividend. The next thing that is going to happen is they are going to consolidate brands.. They are most likely going to pick the name that is most recognized/respected in a particular field all related products will be sold under that name. Another equity company owns most of the major Piston manufacturers these days, I am waiting until the consolidation starts with pistons. The issue is that most of the founders of these companies have either retired, or died, and their heirs for one reason or another are not interested in running the company.. but the buy out cash sure looks good to them. The industry as whole will suffer. I am a big fan of the Taylor wires, love the compact 135* plug boot.. works well on both Stage 1 and 2 engines. I must say, that Summit knock off wire set looks/sounds exactly like the MSD set, for half the price.. JW
