Hello, I have a 1970 GS convertible. It has a high pitched whistle at highway speeds with both the top up and top down. I tried taping off all of the windshield moldings and it was still there. Any thoughts? Thanks, Marc
This kind of issue is particularly hard to troubleshoot... Sometimes having a young person with good hearing around helps ;~) I am guessing some of the Pro technicians on here have ideas? hopefully they can chime in.
In the past I had a whistle noise that drove all of us crazy. After a period of time & MUCH frustration turns out it was the way the direction of the sleeves on the tie rods position. Used some duct tape to verify & the whistling was now gone. Worth 30 seconds of your time. Tom T.
Do you have 15 foot boards stuck sideways out the windows? Had whistling noise from that myself recently...
It's a combination of dried weatherstripping and side glass thst needs to be adjusted after 50 years. As thry say, if it's made with an adjustment, eventually it will need one
Have a passenger door window hardware rattle. As the temperature changes I have to adjust the pressure on the window crank. I also have a rear window crank handle that pops off when I step on the accelerator. If I didn't like how I looked driving by the glass store front at the bank, non of this would be worth it.
...front or rear, if rear, could be trunk weatherstripping. Since convertibles are open into trunk, at speed, air pressure tries to vent to lower pressure behind car, usually at deck lid seal. Adjust or replace, depending...
This is missing from your car? I think all the major parts retailers sell it and Todd could probably also. Plus he might be able to know which brand is best
