I purchased a 69 deluxe wagon and it has no keys. I looked up a few youtubes videos but couldnt find exactly what i needed. Ever yo rhi g is off now and i have punch a small whole intonthe metal to try amd push the locking tab down but no luck. Does ignition have to be in the on position? Is there anyway without a key
You can take the steering wheel off, then the lock plate and horn contact ring. Unblot it and pull it out.
The easiest thing to do is remove the right (passenger) door lock.. Then take the lock to a local Smith and have them cut you a new set...
I removed it. Took some time and more patience then ibhad in 100° california sun..i was being cheap. I did remove the door cylinder yesterday and the shop i took it to told me $89 to male 1 key and only $10 for additionals. So i just bought a new lock set for $22 and decided to do it myself.
Thanks i finally got it. Broke open the metal wall to close the locking cylinder tab in and finally wiggled it out
That guy is crazy... 3 years ago I bought my car with no keys . Locksmith charged me 40 $ to cut me a key from the pass door and rekey the trunk so I use only 1 key for the buick.
The idea behind the separate key for the glove compartment and trunk was that you could leave the ignition key with a parking lot attendant and not have to worry about the bottle in the glove compartment and the shotgun in the trunk.
The lock cylinder should come right out if your prssing down on the tab. No key needed. If it's the original lock cylinder, it should be stamped with the key code. Same for the glove box lock cylinder.
Looks like a non tilt? I pulled put a non tilt directional housing for you. First, remove the buzzer switch carefully. You might have to grab it with a needle nose. Just pulls out Looks like this Next take a small screwdriver and press the tab of the lock cylinder in thru this slot here It will slide out The key code will be stamped on it
You MAY have to apply a little pressure in between the housing and the lock cylinder with a screwdriver as you depress the tab. Sometimes they come out tight
Spray the lock cylinder with wd-40 when you put it back in so the next guy won't have trouble taking it apart. Who knows, it just might be me lol
All done and fix guys Thank you. All electrical works and rear window rolls up amd down freely. Now to decide if i wana swap the motor or just sell it as it looks like it has a blown head gasket♂️. The battery and alternator fooled me lol
