I think those Chinese things hold the bearing nut in place in case the carter key fails. My dad didn’t call it a Carter key. He called it a kot ter key like the TV show, Welcome back Kotter

My dad grew up in Baltimore. I know there’s some Baltimorons on this radio station. Both he and my uncle used to call Belaire Avenue, which I think is US one north of town, Blair Road. I don’t know where that came from but that’s what they called it.

Yes, Belair Road is Rt. 1 north of town.

    That's Blaire, hon.
And we warsh the car with warter.
And we go downey ocean, hon.

My wife (a new yawker) hates when I do the Bawlmer accent. Admittedly it's not the most eloquent of accents.

It's quite interesting how the accent changes as you go down the east coast.

Im reaching my limit on hand fabbing brake lines..

The line for the master was interesting. Turns out my 4wd socket was the exact diameter for the one bend.

Axle lines are done. I have one more flare to do on the line going into the rear flex hose and we're officially done with lines. I csn start bolting stuff on now. Still scheduled for a nice, high, stiff brake pedal by Thursday.

As if there wasn't enough bending and flaring, Eric dropped this line off and asked for 2 replacements. Came out pretty good

And yes, there seems to be a posi tag on the fill

He is pretty handy at 'em. IIRC he explained his technique in his GSX thread.

    Moving right along....

Gearbox serviced. Pumped in some fresh GL4 80w90. Front end greased..poor car was dry as a bone. All the wheel cylinders installed. Final line was flared.

I was gonna put the drums on but I ran out of steam.

Master is going on tomorrow. I think I might be one day ahead of schedule

Since you're former car was the first official beater does that make it the Master Beater?

I hate doing brake lines too. I loved how you got the curve going using the giant socket from your four-wheel-drive. I’ve done brake lines for a rear ends. Bought a real nice tube bender and I hardly ever use it. I find stuff around the yard to bend the tube around, like a fence post or the gate bar or a crowbar. It’s amazing what you can find to make the line do what you want it to do. Keep going Jason you’re doing great!

First monkey wrench in the works- master is wrong. Manual brake master is different. Searched high and low- no one has it. I did however find a rebuild kit. I tried rebuilding it. Remember..."trying- the first step towards failure" Lol

Took the old one apart, honed the hell out of it and threw it together. Bore was pitted in a couple spots, hopefully not the important area. Bench bled it and it seemed to have pressure. Maybe I dodge a bullet. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Worst cast scenario, I have to drop it off at Apple hydraulics for a sleeve and rebuild.

So basically all that's left is to put the front drums on and bleed her out. I'm almost excited...

Took a day off from the cat project yesterday. Not much done today other thsn putting the front drums on and adjusting the brakes

Eric was over last night dropping off parts- fuel pump, shocks, ign wires, cap, rotor, points, heater hoses, fuel line, fuel sender sock and brass float.

Im gonna make a push this weekend and try and try to cross sone stuff off the list....
