Here is an unrestored '70 GS for reference: Multiple companies sell them but here it is in the Legendary Auto Interiors catalog:
I think I'll buy both and use a spray adhesive to hold the jute to the black divider. They look to be cut the same.
Al, Originally they were a heavy tar paper covered material, kind of like what was on the floor but covered by paper on both sides. There was never any jute on that part. That is just something else the companies are trying to get you to buy. Duane
Original Parts Group sell this all together. https://www.opgi.com/product/image/OP/167353/divider-kit-1968-72-a-body-k1153c.jpg
This premium die-stamped fiberboard is guaranteed to fit and function exactly like the factory originals. The complete kit, with jute divider backing, is recommended for a quality installation
I agree, it's all coming back to me now, I thought the original divider was a rubber like with jute like they had on the front floor at the fire wall.
Machine-stamped laminated fiberboard is die-cut like the originals. Combo comes complete with jute trunk divider insulation. The jute backing is recommended because it provides insulation from noise and moisture.
Really it was more like the tar paper sealant that was on the floors, but with a little less tar and more paper. Duane
Does anyone offer the correct divider? Looks like my field mice had a field day at one time, seeing jute back there.
