so the 72 had one flaw when i bought it. the seal in the front of the th400 leaks. i had planned to go to overdrive anyway and still have the 700r4 i was going to use in my 72. problem is the th400 is longer than 700r4 being its in a full size car. so unless i can find small block 2 door lesabre driveshaft( yeah shame i couldnt get the one out the other car) i need this one extended or a new one. i also need to swap the front yoke over to one to fit the 700r4. i have no clue where to get one local to eastern ky. so im looking for suggestions.
also do you think i could slide the th400 back far enough to fix it good enough until i get the 700r4 done? i dont really want to pull it out stick it on a bench fix it put it back just to have to do it again with the 700r4.
Check for a local drive shaft shop. There is one near us that will make any driveshaft. Maybe a local 4wd club could offer suggestions.
There was a company called extenze. Not sure if they are still around but they had some decent endorsements.
Denny's Driveshafts will make them by order and ship. I think you can call them and they will tell you the dimensions they need. https://www.dennysdriveshaft.com/index.html
Don't extend a driveshaft......shortening is ok. You don't have to pull the trsns to replace the seal or extension housing. Custom clutch and joint in Hilliard ohio can build them if you measure.......im sure Mike will ship it. He built mine when they were here in mansfield ohio. Good to almost 9 sec so far
I got mine from Denny’s ; you have to go to their website and print off the form. Once you fill it out with all the measurements then call them . Fit was perfect. Mine only took about two weeks, however that was a few years ago.
Performance Shaft Technologies is another supplier to consider. They are located in Florida and do ship.
