You woulda froze here... It was 52 this morning at 7:30 when I left to go get my kid. BY the way... since I still have not fixed the Suburban from the BG trip, the heat doesn't work. I wore a t-shirt, shorts and flip-flops, with a flannel shirt for a jacket. Fred has a point there John... Your Penguins do provide us with some much needed entertainment at your expense!
I went out this morning in 30° F weather wearing shorts, t-shirt and light summer jacket. It was perfect! I'm reminded of waiting for a load in Laredo, Texas January 1st, 2000 during a severe (for them) cold snap. Temps were just above freezing. Locals were bundled up in all sorts of additional clothing while I walked around in shorts and a sweatshirt. Would have played a round of golf that day, but the course was closed.
OK, I call bullsheet! I’m already tired of this cold weather, and it’s only been day one. I was doing OK in the garage that faces Southeast away from the wind. Once I got finished working I got cold. I’m gonna have to go in and take a warm tubby. I did find out my new frogger raincoat does not work like the last one. The last one would keep you warm. This one feels like a cold plastic raincoat just heavy duty.
What a difference a day makes! I was outside on the porch at 5 AM this morning and it was still 63°, but it was much drier air than Yesterdays damp cave like air. It’s already 78° and quite sunny. I’m back to pressure washing with no shirt and flip-flops on. Thank you dear Lord baby Jesus!
Same old same old, lying meteorologist. They just had an interview on the radio with some meteorologist. He said this is the third year in a row for La Niña. He said that means warmer than usual and drier than usual in the south and colder and wetter in the north. That’s interesting because yesterday morning Gainesville Florida broke a morning low record held since 1893. So much for warmer and dryer.
Dodged a major storm over the past couple days here. Got woken up Monday morning to a raucous thunderstorm accompanied with torrential rain at 02:00 hrs. Didn't mind too much since rain doesn't require a snowblower. That rainfall added to what's already fallen in 2022 broke our all time precipitation record. We've now received almost 30 inches since Jan. 1st. Still have 9.5 weeks remaining to add more. Normal is around 20 inches for the entire year. That includes snow converted into liquid measure. Gotta love "climate change". Just keep venomous snakes away and I'm good. About 350 miles west of me, highways were closed dues to blizzard conditions for most of Sunday. Temperatures dropped from 55° F in the afternoon to 36° F four hours later. Supposed to return to low/mid fifties later this week.
Over a foot of snow in the southern parts of the province, - none here yet, but it's coming. The usual winter pattern begins, except this year it's going to be almost doubly expensive to heat the place. We are sitting on the 3rd largest natural gas field on the planet, and we can't get it out of the ground. When it does come out, it's taxed, because I'm told our esteemed PM feels there's no "solid business case for it". I truly wish that once he's removed from office and rendered unemployed, that he is forced into exile to Hay River and forced to work the ramp at Buffalo Airways for minimum wage where it never gets above freezing for 8 months, and where -40 is more the norm than an extreme occurrence. Maybe then it will sink into his well-coiffed but thick skull that Canada is a winter country, and we are forced to burn fossil fuels to stay alive.
Cold has not come here yet, but looks to very soon. I heat with oil, and now there is a shortage here in the North East. Even read some articles about total US supply of heating oil/diesel supply only being about 28 days worth. Bought 30 rolls of R30 this past weekend to overlay the R30 I already have. Putting that in is gonna be a "fun" job. Oil is around 6.75 a gallon already. Praying for a warm winter.
It is a toe numbing 72° here in South Florida this morning. I am not, I repeat not going to put socks on while I wear flip-flops. That is gay looking! I am going to cut down three cedar trees today. I am not going to burn them in my woodstove because I do not have a woodstove. I might save the larger branches and the trunks to make some type of rustic fence though. Have a great day Northerners!
Forecast here says low to mid 50's today and through the weekend! Still wearing shorts, but with a light jacket when I'm outside. My feet and flip flops have an agreement to never, ever meet in public.
Dang, it’s Friday night at 11:54 PM and no one is talking about the weather. So let me just rub it in for you Up North people. I could take a picture but I think you believe me, it’s 71.6° on my electronic thermometer. I went and took a nice hot shower, put on clean clothes, and I’m standing outside in shorts and a T-shirt with flip-flops. I believe we’re going boating tomorrow. Last weekend was Frigid cold like it is Up North when we went boating. It should be 85° tomorrow afternoon. The water is still cold. It’s probably 73°. Way too cold for anything above my favorite protected areas. That was messed up.
It’s T shirt weather here today as well! 34F, 1C, snow was melting all day. Today I loaded up this bike up and stored it in my garage for a friend. I dont know much about bikes but it sounds bad ass!
Just left Ft. Lauderdale after taking a cruise out of Miami, it was around 80 deg there today and came back to 30 degrees, light snow and a dead battery in the car parking facility, Not sure why it went dead since it was just replaced 3 weeks ago. A nice welcome home gift. I want to go back to the warmth.
NE Ohio has been ok with weather not that cold and no snow to really speak of have not shoveled yet most has been about 4 inches when we had that cold snap been fair ever since.
That bike looks "Bad to the bone" Sean. We didn't go boating yesterday, but we are today. Like Mike said, it's going to be in the low 80's. A very nice day indeed.
