Back in the day we would run G60-15 on the front and L60-15 on the back. With the repo tires it appears everyone is running them squared. I wonder if anyone has tried them staggered?
I run 215-70-15 on 15x7's up front, 255-60-15 on 15x8's on rear. Lots of compliments on the stance. I think a nice staggered look... square sidewall to rim look. Same dia's too. Real close.... I'm not a fan of big baloney's up front.
Idk Sean, more like the Ed"Big Daddy" Roth, Ratfink look.... All the boys at the Nationals have that slammed down and dirty look.... I like it!
Got to get new tires for my 69 this year. Do you think you could have went even narrower to a 215? I want to do the same rears if they will fit. I’ve had a nice set of poverty caps and color matched steel wheels sitting around for quite some years now.
Back when I had my '70 GS455 I ran the Formula 1 Super Stock G60 x 15 bias belted tires front and back but had another pair of the L60 x 15s for the back when I went to the track. Here it is with the L60s in the back just after the 1989 GS Nationals.
Narrower is not a problem originally they came with a F or G 78 14 tire in most cases. I think your contact patch when turning is the big concern. If just drag racing go as thin as you like.
Yes, 72Stage1 and his son staggered the Goodyears on their great looking black '70 GS. I sent him a message and hopefully he can chime in on this thread. Goodyear Polyglass soon? | V8buick.com
Oh yea, that is the look I am going for. I ordered the Good Year L60 for the back and G60 for the front yesterday. They said April or May. These will sit on another set of rims though. I have the staggered radials now and have always liked that look and that is what the car will ride on mostly. Are those 8" rims on the back or 7s?
Stock 15x7 wheels front and back. We have found the G60 on the front can touch before the bump stop on our 1970 for some reason, and they’re harder to buy because they are the most popular size and don’t really look very staggered, the F60 took care of all that.
