Wife says she likes street rods and I should look for one. Who am I too argue with that? So, I'm open to all suggestions but, here are my absolute requirements: 1) Has to be Buick powered (V8 or turbo 3.8 V6) 2) Has to have auto transmission 3) Has to have working A/C 4) Has to be finished & ready for cruising and local shows. (no high dollar trailer queens) And, for those that might ask...….NO, my GS will not be for sale if I find a nice street rod.
While I commend your choices, you just knocked out 98% of your choices with "Has to be Buick powered (V8 or turbo 3.8 V6)". Not to mention working A/C. I'll keep my eyes peeled though. When you say street rod what era are you looking for?
Maybe not exactly a street rod (just saw - A/C but manual trans), but maybe she'd be excited over this: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1962-buick-special-5/
I know, Ken. But, they're out there and most cruising street rods (at least here in Florida) have vintage air added to them. But, I know I'm poking around in a deep hole. As for vintage, mid 1930s to late 1940s. I saw a really nice black 38 or 39 Buick a few years ago with a high HP Turbo V6 I'd love to find again.
Now that is a real beauty! Professionally done for sure. Didn't know you could Pro-Charge a Buick motor. But, no stick for me. The year would work though even though it's not really a street rod. Thanks, Dano.
There is a huge street rod show up here in August. there are usually a handful of cars with a nailhead.
Long way to go from central Florida. I’m in communication with several members of a local street rod club that can let me know when good cars come up for sale. keep those suggestions coming.
That’s a beauty and was worth a closer look. The seller says the AC is inop and he has no history on the 455s build. For $85k I needed more confidence than the seller gave me,
Come up to the huge Back to the Fifties show at the MN State Fairgrounds, there will be some there! The show attracts over 13,000 street rods.
Just can’t spend the time to travel that far to look at cars. I’ll be happy checking the market via the internet.
Bingo!! We are talking. Offer made. Need someone in Virginia to take a look at it. See this post: http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?threads/help-buying-a-buick-in-virginia.387140/
that’s an awesome car Ray. Hope it works out. I like how it is still stock appearing until you really start to investigate.
