Does anyone one know the length from eye lid to eye lid on a 70-81 TA 1-1/4" sway bar? Bought a sway bar the other day who said it was a TA bar. After removing my stock bar and placing it next to the new bar, i notice the difference. Made an attempt on installing but it just would not fit. Yes i did install it correct. tried it both way and no joy. The measurement From eye lid to eye lid is 43 1/2" and there is a curve in the center of the sway bar. Not straight at all. If anyone could help with this so i don't make another costly mistake. Thanks.
Mine is on car so a true measurement is not happening..... In the meantime My is very to 48'' give or take a 1/2 inch..
For what it's worth . The sway bar ends are literally equal to being directly under the upper ball joints.....
I don’t know the length. But I do know years ago, like early eighties I took one off a mid seventies TA? For sure was a 1-1/4 and hardware with new bushings and bolted it on.
Kinda hard to tell when your buying used from someone and dont have the part to check. Having the exact measurements would have help for sure.
Optical illusion or really a curve here? If a curve then definitely not the bar you thought it was. The front T/A bar installed on my GS is absolutely deadnuts straight at this location.
Yeah as stated, it has a curve in the center and advice not the bar i needed. Getting tired of getting burn by folks that state they have an item an state it in good shape or the right part.....wasted money that could be using else where.
Guys thanks really, but picture will not help anyone. true measurements will. Not just for me but others that may search the board. Would have help me when i was searching. All i got was, "It's a direct bolt on" and Blah.blah blah...
Am I missing something? I see you have your stock bar correct? It would be that length from eye to eye. Btw, what’s an eye lid?
Wouldn’t your original bar’s width be the number you’re looking for? The second gen TA bar does interchange by all accounts; are you trying to verify what you bought is wrong, or be sure the next one you buy isn’t? Patrick
