I came across a set of Bulldog cast valve covers and was wondering if anyone had a guestimate of what the going price is on a set? I did a search on the V8 board and could find very little about them. I know that you dont see them on many of our cars, not even sure how may were made. I see some of the T/A and older KB valve covers in the $500-700 range if they are in decent shape. Any thoughts? Thanks!
AFAIK, there is no such thing as Bulldog valve covers, for any engine. Where did you come across them? Bulldog made Buick heads, and a cylinder block, none of which ever really took off. The heads are still out there, but any valve cover made for the BBB engine would fit the Bulldog heads.
Here are pictures of the valve covers. The inside has BD104 cast inside. I bought these years ago from Geoff (RIP) and Bobb at Finishline. I had them on my 470 for about a year, took them off for some reason I can't recall. I stored them away and just found them in a box of parts. There was a thread about someone wondering if Moroso ever made BBB valve covers and how there were only Poston, KB , T/A and Elelbrock that made aftermarket pieces. That jogged my memory about the Bulldog covers I had stored away.
Yep...that's why I was asking about value. No real comparisons, other than the current offerings. They used Allen head bolts with washers.
I remember those. Yes, I believe they are Bulldog. Bad memories from that place. I paid for a set of heads and never received them. I was out $1750. I even paid a shop additional money for port work, and they closed down. I lost around $2500.
Earick racing had some on his GSCA ads from years ago ..also had a badass cast tunnel ram....probably all one off stuff
Years ago, I started sanding on them to prep for polishing. Life got in the way and put them in storage. As Pat stated…they are kinda plain, that’s why I was going to polish them. I remember all the negative experiences that were related to the Bulldog products. I believe that I bought them about 20 years ago when Finishline built my 470, I know they lost a bunch of $$$ from their investments in Bulldog. Please…let’s not turn this into a Bulldog bash fest.
