We all need some inspiration, motivation, goals defined, and sometimes a good ole' kick in the a** to get ourselves going sometimes. Well, in Norwalk Wild Bill and I decided we need to finish our projects and drive them to the BCA nats in Seattle WA next year! Wild Bill is working on an Awesome '66 Wildcat GS with a 455, Headers, Gear Vendors OD, the last set of 3.91 Buick gears on the planet, white w/black bucket seat interior! I'm working on the Black w/ Red Interior '65 Wildcat Custom, Nailed 425 w/ Buick X code aluminum intake dual quad 5-speed 3.42:1 gears! Some Pix! Let the challenge begin! I don't think Bill has any pics of the White One up here yet...Any progress to report? Ted
Good idea guys. Especially since WILDCATS RULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heres my last pic of my 69 quarter installation...well...half quarter. I'll take pics of the whole mess this week. Unlike your cars, mine won't be very nice. But I've come to the conclusion that waiting 20 years from now to afford the resto sucks, so its gonna hit the road this year as a black primer and flamed "rat". I promise not to butcher anything though, so someday it will be original looking. Although I am considering adding another power antena to the pass side.
not to change the subject but who do you get to rechrome rally rims i have a set and need to get something done on my car. scott 1964 wildcat 425-2-4bbls 4 speed
Scott- I had some rims done by Wheels! Rallyamerica.com in Ca. Gary is the guy's name. 559-322-2128. He is hard to get a hold of but the ONLY guy that I know of that has the stuff to do them. I cannot figure out why its so hard to chrome a dad gum wheel! But it is and he is the guy. Ted
A friend of mine has a red 66. Here is a video of him cruising his Wildcat. It is not nailhead powered but is Buick powered. Click on the link below. Hope this motivates you a little. http://www.austinbuicks.org/66 buick.MPG
Yup, I've got the week off and will be there with the Princess- thats the 4-speed convertible :beer This weekend is the Indy show. I just found out the Concours show in conjunction with the F1 race is Saturday as well. 2 really big shows!
Your Welcome Scott! Ok, Status report on my Wildcat: Body: paint done, chrome done not all installed yet. All the windows and regulators have to be installed. I want to convert to power windows, so I have ot knock out the spot in the door and jamb for that (without destroying the black paint!!!) I've got to figure out where to get the rubber material that holds the vent windows in the frame- Interior; Have to send door panels off to SMS for color change. Get material for seats. Dye a dashpad. paint all the other interior bits....I had a black dash all ready to install. better dedo that in red. Engine. Decision! I have one built, but thats when the car was going to be an automatic and have a Q-Jet carb set up. Now the intake will be the X-Code Buick Aluminum job, so the engine has to be fancier, right! So, I have to build an engine bottom end to match the top end :TU: LW Block(check)Ross pistons (check) Carmen heads (check) Balance w/Billet flywheel. Biggest bugger is to get the transmission into the car- big hole to be cut, then new hump in place. Then the hydraulic clutch hook up challenge. Pictures to follow, I promise. Ted
Well.......mines certainly not one of Teds cars, but she ain't so bad. Keep in mind someday I'll do it up right. So heres some pics as of last night.
Besides the half quarter, a 69 LeSabre four door gave up its floor. I cut it at the spot welds at the toeboard, halfway in between the seat brace, and at the rockers above the frame. This way, you can look under it and not notice I put a floor in.
Hard to see, but I got the quarter graft to the outer wheelhouse lookin' fine! You can reach in and run your fingers inside and hardly have a clue!!!
These will help!! Sounds nice to. Thats a 54k drivetrain exhausting out there. Even though I don't have a tag (anyone got one?) thats a 3.07 posi in that rear. :3gears:
ted i got my vent window rubber sets from steel rubber they had a complete weatherstripping kit.if they had a 64 they should have a 65.hope this helps scott
Ted,the pictures of your engine on the frame are great, can't wait to see the firewall there.Wild Bill's garage looks like mine, with treasures(IT'S NOT JUNK!!!) all over. This should be a good "contest".Dan,that's a lot of work that you're doing and it's looking good, can't wait to see the first coat of primer on the whole car,it'll be sweeet!
Ted's got the lead right now but i will be getting with the program. Here's some photos of where i stand right now. Peace WildBill
