Ok, heading in for paint soon.

    Dilema.

POLL: Put it back to Skylark or continue the GSX clone?

Opinions sought for color scheme accordingly.

The car is a 70 Skylark Custom Convertible that was one foot in the grave and taking the second step when I found it. Tons of work later including a stump pulling Big Block, being cloned with some GSX parts and upgraded with many options. The Parts Place Grille is being ordered to complete the look. (There was no convertible GSX in 70, we know) I am still not sure I like the look?:Do No: The photobucket gallery shows pics of the car without the GSX parts.

The car is originally a #25 Gulf Stream Blue, white pearl interior. Black will be the interior and top color, but we are not sure what to do with body paint color scheme.

I am getting a lot of pressure to go GSX Scheme, Silver and Black Stripes.

I think that was a color scheme in 71 or 72? I know I have seen pics here before, I scoured the 70-72 cars thread, did not find any. Does any body have pics of the convertible in this color scheme?

IMO, there is nothing wrong with making your Skylark Conv into a GSX. It's the car that should have made, and it can be stunning! Not to mention that if you do it right, it will be worth MANY times what a 'Lark will ever be.

    Go for it!

If it were me, I would stick with the Gulf Stream blue. I like the look of the GS hood and front spoiler, especially if you have a GS grille to go with it. To me, the rear spoiler seems out of place on a convertible.

keep going with the clone project:TU: i disagree that the spoiler is out of place on a vert, with the top down it really stands out.silver wouldnt be my first choice, but its not my car:Dou: just be prepared for all the dumbasses that are going to call it a judge:error:

I like it as a GSX but I think that it would look ceaner if it did not have a rear spoiler.

Here are some earlier offerings when I first struggled.

I think I am going the Saturn Yellow / Black scheme. It is 70 correct paint scheme anyway, whereas, other schemes are not genre.

I have always loved the saturn yellow since I saw my first GSX when i was 10 years old.

    Keep up the input.:TU:

I like the clone; I like the spoiler and am thinking of doing it on my convert (not a Skylark) and have a pic of the stripe (think it's what you wanted). Regards, Gordon

Thanks, good looking car of course. I am looking for pics of 70 verts that have been cloned, and the paint schemes. As I previously mentioned, I think a 70 correct color scheme is best suited.

Go with the yellow it would be very nice that's what I think of when I think of a GSX and being a convertible is even better. Rick

    peedenmark7 drop that top !!!!

sadly , its probably going to be worth more mocked up than it would be if left a factory lark...
as much as a GSX convert wouldve been cool back in the day...
    its an obvious fake today...
leave the hood and wing badge it a lark and loose the stripes.
    very cool project though :)

    Thanks.
The project is out of love, not resale worth, so it is entirely for the hot rod factor. :beer I am ok with a fake, it is the look I still am not sure about.
