I had some saved photos of the silver and black stripes when I was trying to decide what color scheme to go with.I know it's not a vert, but it gives you an idea what it would look like.I eventually went with the Cortez Gold, but if I would do another it would be in silver.Good Luck in your decision,I'm sure it will be a looker either way.

here's my two cents, since you asked :) and an angle I haven't seen mentioned. Yes the GSX looks cool. Yes the yellow looks cool. Yes you will be noticed. I noticed you have a big block. Do you use the power on the street? I've never driven on the west coast but around here if you drive fast in a car that is very obvious you have a much higher chance of getting a ticket. This is the number one reason I like sleepers. :3gears:

Flashy colors...A good point to keep in mind.

I have been driving a Big Block BUICK for 20 years on the street, never a moving violation. The previous 5 years with the small block BUICK, GS 350, several moving violations. :3gears: ALL cars have been blue.

With that said, after I built my 474, a mandatory respect for the big block on the street became just basic survival. Don't F-around, or peel it off a phone pole or bail it out of jail.

I think no matter what color scheme, when this car is asking for Johhny LAW, or any other action, pretty obvious it will get takers.

I refuse to subject the finish of the build criteria to fear of the JACK BOOT of the LAW!

:bglasses: ...vert..built big block, 411's, 4K SP TH-400 , drop top, headers with flowmasters and cut outs....the law is aware of it regardless the color.

Thanks, and please Keep it coming.

Very interesting. Any theories for the cause of this. I have one.

if you want to avoid tickets get a 225v6 1 barrel engine with a powerglide
you wont have to worry about tickets you wont be going fast enuff:spank:
    and wont be doing this:3gears:

I will throw out a few theories....

I reckon it is attributed to IRON DEFICIENCY. That 350 under ther hood just makes enough power to get you excited and can be fun...but, you need to be ALL into it and that is when you get in trouble. Always trying to prove yourself if you pull up to a light and there is a possible race---tempting and likely if you do race, it will be close--and dangerous on the street!

Now, Once you have the power of the big block, that desire to tear around like an A-hole on the street is tamed due to the fact that 1) it only takes a tap or two on the foot feed to feel a rush of torque, no need to get up to dangerous speeds, and 2) and most importantly, it is TOO DANGEROUS to let loose all that power in residential areas. You no longer risk life and damage and it is too easy to losse control. And 3) knowing that when you pull up to a stop light and there sits Joe Shmoe in his whatever ride, there generally is not a good race since you have that Big Block ---there is not that need to prove it, since YOU KNOW that poor sucker does not stand a chance.

I think it comes back to the respect for the Big Block I mentioned previously.

    Enjoy your 455!

how about that Moleary! That is exactly what I was thinking. Word for word thats just whats been going on with my car. I'm lucky I only got one ticket last year in the Buick. I remember in the 80's when cars were slower I'd be annoyed if I had to use the secondaries to pull away from someone. It will be nice to have that again! :3gears: Its funny I never ran into a big block car back then. I wish I did. I probably would have gone the BBB route earlier.

Regarding the "attention." What's under the hood is irrelevant. You can do just as much of an eye-catching burnout in a Buick 350 as a big block. Just use commom sense. And Johnny Law doesn't know what's under the hood. He's wathcing ANY 30 year old car. Be safe and sensible. And make sure that all of the "little things" are in good working order. If you catch his attention, he's probably gonna pull you over if he has the excuse of a burned out tail light; he may let you go otherwise.

My vote is for the Skylark identity to stay, not because I'm a purist(faaar from it) but becuse it will be a sleeper from hell:Brow: .Like Andy posted above,I'm also a sleeper fanatic,"speak softly and carry a big stick":3gears: .Any way that you go will be a nice car, good luck.

I also have a Ertl model in my office of a GSX 4spd convert in yellow and Black and that is really to me the ultimate GSX color. I was kidding about the heritage green. I think if you are going to clone it use a color that was actually available on a GSX (or were they all?):Do No:

In 1970, Saturn Yellow or Apollo White were the only 2 GSX colors. 71-72 more choices were available.
