Cristy 68 lesabre 4dr sedan. "resting" for now

Here's my 68. she's sad lately though. no motor/trans.... and i (sorry to admit) moved on to a younger lady, an 83 regal.... mostly due to the fact that i built a go fast motor, and this yacht is not a go fast car.
I would love to get another 350 for her and cruize again. but for now she sits, almost 4 years now, sitting wating... She still is beautifull, big black and beautifull :)

Here's a few pics of my clunker...
Not to be compared to 99.9% of the others on here ....
Hopefully my impression will be noticed with the after pics.....soon to come..:beer
1st pic is when I first purchased it... Since i've half-@$$ed primed it.. gave most of my attention to the fenders and hood ,trunk , etc. i'll let the body shop handle the fillins I can't find the pics of the rust damage i repaired around the back window. Even the body shop guy told me he was impressed with the pinch weld repair i had made and the rust hole fill-ins around the bottoms corners..
So far all my $$ went into exhaust, transmission , rearmain seal , suspension, electrical system, tires , and GAs... lots and lots of gas.(replaced the original aircleaner assembly w/ decals)...I've had cars way more advanced and expensive than this 69 lark ..( bought for $800)
Nothing has given me more joy than to slowly ressurect this old beast..
So many people are curious about this car's mystique its just silly..
I love it.. If its ever to be parted with ... it's only to be replaced..w/ another. It has a 1970 , 350-2 its crazy torquey.!!.
dunno why:Do No: I'm startin to think this car was rebuilt about 15 years ago with modified parts and cam possibly(eng was painted blue with original red paint exposed underneath).. Even the transmission guy (who builds racing transmissions) was impressed with the torque this car has.. and the miles. (guestimating over 250k miles.) Timing chain is next on the agenda for teh spring then the paint in the month of june..

Do you have speakers in the vent tubes???? and in the headrest? Headers? Your setup is very close to mine without the aluminum heads!! and some of the horses!

yes, those are tweeters in the vent tubes (does not noticably affect air flow).

The rear speakers are these that I mounted on aluminum "L" like brackets that slide into a custom rail installed behind the rear seat. Quick disconnects allow me to remove the whole thing in just a few seconds. I also covered them in black Plasti-dip (a rubber-like material used to coat tool handles) and "mottled" the appearance with a foam paint brush to match the original pattern. From the rear, they do look like rear headrests, dont they ??

I also installed a 250 watt Infinity BassLink II subwoofer inside the right trunk area mounting its remote control ion the side of the console between the drievers' seat down low so its hidden.

The head unit is mounted in the center A/C vent hole of a dashpad - my car is non-A/C. I couldn't have made a custm mount fit any better than it did in the vent hole if I spent 50 hours on it

I do run TA 1 7/8th inch jethot coated headers into 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust.

I don't the actual history of the paint ie. type or number of coats. It was applied by the previous owner about 5 years ago. Honestly, I thinks it's a basic GM black w/ clear coat finish and good polish job.

The second set of hand cranks are for the vent windows, which I think are very cool as opposed to flipping a release latch.

BTW, you're more than welcome to use the pics if it helps you out, of course. I'm fatter, I mean flattered.

P.S. Notice I have a 69 bumper?:Dou: I'm keeping it since I couldn't find a good 68 bumper. I bought a light and lense for it. No one will know other than true Buick fans.:pp

There's a guy in baltimore with a sweet 68 with a 69 bumper the third reverse light was fabricated into a 3rd brake light. he also replaced the tailights with LED bulbs it really looks nice but from tking a quick glance it looks like a real pain to replace the bulbs.. thnk god LEDs last 10 years LOL
Yeah i'd keep the 69 bumper it seems to have more appeal. esp with inquisitive kids..like me
Skylarks have an interesting look to them.. its almost evil. Most people like to hang around the front of the older cars looking at the motorworks.
Something about the Lark/gs stance from the rear..IT's just downright evil and nasty.. It has a severe touch of refinement and sophistication that employs the left hemisphere to accept it as inviting but when the motor is mashed ( even on 2bl single exhasut) the Buick exhaust note especially in flowmasters is quite distinct...
Gives it a whole new perspective while in motion!! Evil Evil Evil!! DArth Vader in my opinion wouldn't have chosen anythign else if he were around in 1968 thru 69 ;) No doubt he would've sported a woodrow over those vent cranks !! :))
