My name is Dave Campbell,I have owned a few GS's 1 being a solid red hardtop 71 gs stage 1 car, white interior, n25 bumper .I sold the car around 1998,99 from Gainseville, Va. to a person in Maryland for a song I must say.Would love to locate this car again,do not have any vin numbers,or pictures at this time, still trying to find them as I have moved.I also owned a 72 flame orange convertable which I purchaced from original owner in 1987 and traded for the stage 1 car. I seen this car on ebay a couple years ago selling for $80,000 fully restored,I payed 750.00 for this car from my mother friend.wish I would have kept that car also.

A 71 solid red stage 1 is a rare car. If you find the VIN, run it through the Maryland DMV for starters. Also, check with the insurance carrier, or agent at the time, for the VIN.

    Hey Dave,

Believe it or not, there was a 71 Red GS Stage 1 at the old Sam's Salvage yard (now a mulching business) last year....right in Gainesville Va! I tried to inquire about it but I was never able to locate the owner.

Never been in Sams junkyard, but believe it or not I lived in the houses right behind that place when I sold the car,the guy that purchased it drove it on his trailer and lived in Maryland.I still live in Haymarket so maybe I will not look into it

    Dave,

It must be the same car...I had seen a red 71 GS Stage 1 when I was in back of the Exxon gas station getting my car washed. The 71 was sitting on the side of the business trailer that sells mulch (part of Sams Salvage yard from years back). This was last year when I had seen it but they moved the car since then. How many Red 71 Stage 1's would be in the same location? I am sure if you ask at the trailer, they would know where the car is.

Btw, I am organizing a car show on 2 May at the Gainesville Methodist Church....all proceeds go to the Haymarket Food Pantry.
