Oh my. You guys are gunna kill me. . . . Is it just me?? or does anyone else feel NO ONE cares about quality anymore??? The same fello whom I have paid dearly over the years to sand and polish the welded areas of these tips passed away in February. He was training a fello to polish and repair stainless to pass off the bidness to him at a later time. . . I took this new guy 4 sets of N25 tips and he preceded to grind thru the delicate HeliArc welds... He ground right-on-thru the weld into the stainless and split the now deckled metal beyond repair...ON 7 PIECES!!!! When asked "why he didnt stop at the sight of what he was doing???" ...his reply was... HONESTLY... "I didnt think it really mattered because its on the bottom edges and no one would see that area anyway..." He ruined 7 of the 8 pieces.... the only reason he didnt ruin the last piece was I stopped by to check on his progress and stopped him.... I managed to save one N25 tip. O'yay. He promises to reimburse me for this major grinding messup, altho I'm not too certain how he plans to pay me to remanufacture these tips .... Meanwhile, I have just expedited another $980 sheet of 16 GA polished SS stock. Should arrive in 7 days. I will do my best to REmanufacture 5 more sets but will be more like Mid June for completion. Sorry guys. Some of you who are in business understand when you send stuff to outside vendors, whatever the product, you are turning over total control to them, you are at their mercy, their quality control, their schedule... and more often than not, things rarely come out in your favor... Im finding more and more, QUALITY has no meaning anymore...and people just dont care... its sad. That being said, IF this new delayed deadline schedule is a real issue for any of you, please, just let me know and I will reimburse your full refund. SHORT.... of going into a ton of details, this fello tried to repair the tips buy cutting them apart along the welds and grinding down the deckled metal ... Yes he tried. BUT he made even more of a mess of these things. The angles are not perpendicular and wrong. They were crooked. and the metal turned BLUE around his attempted 'stick weld', used too much heat and once the stainless turns blue, it cannot be polished out.... Sooo, several of you inquired about "blems" or "imperfect tips", sorry to say that is just not going to happen. I asked him to cut off the 2.5" and the 3" exhaust shoulder possibly using them on the new batch of tips. . . we shall see. BTW my new "sheet stainless" hopefully, arrives on wednesday. I understand i work in a machine shop that is a common problem, most of the time only ones that care about quality is people that take pride in their work and the ones forking out the money. Take your time not needed right now anyway Sorry you have to do them over again that sucks!
