1967 Riviera GS For Sale

Discussion in 'Cars for sale' started by '67 GS For Sale, May 21, 2017.

  1. One owner. Never parked outside.

The engine is in great shape and this car runs remarkably well. Feels like it did 50 years ago. Still has all the muscle and rugged good looks! Amazing how many heads turn and how many thumbs up this baby still gets. A joy to drive. A real American classic!

BODY: Rust free. 20 minor blemishes. A bit of bondo on the right rear panel. A tiny fender blemish on the right front panel. Chrome trimming in grill is cracked. Other than that this baby is beautiful! It has bumped and scraped the entrance to the garage, but has never been in an accident.

PAINT: The 20 blemishes are small chips in the paint. This car is 50 years old and was repainted in the 1980s.

INTERIOR: Original, but recovered in the 1980s. Black recliner bucket seats with headrest, shifting floor console. There is one tear on the driver’s seat and some ware on the carpeting on both the driver’s door and the passenger’s door and floor. Other than that, the carpet and rear seats are in excellent condition.

TRUNK: Original, but looks like it’s 50 years old, which it is.

CHROME: Original and excellent condition, with the one exception in the front.

    WHEELS: Original and excellent condition.

NEW: Tires, Distributor Cap, Rotor, Air Filter, Oil Filter, Battery, Front Upper & Lower Bushings, Upper & Lower & Left & Right Ball Joints, Inner & Outer & Left & Right Tie Rods, Breaks, Shocks. All under warranty!

Do you have any paper work to prove the GS option? Tom

  8. Thanks for the link with pics Devon.

StagedCat, Did you see those images?

Tom, when you look at the images of the hood and tag in the engine compartment, you'll see that the codes that prove it is a GS. I can get you a picture of the differential to show you the circled X to prove that it has positraction, which was standard only on the GS. See the images on Craigslist: https://reno.craigslist.org/cto/6141391347.html ).

I don't know much about these Riv GS's, which code on the cowl tag proves it is a GS?

  10. Tom,
I don't know either. A fellow at the Riviera Owners Association asked me to take that picture and send it to him and after I did, he confirmed that it was a GS. I will reach out to him and ask for the identifying mark is. I'll see if I can't get that verified by GM somehow.

Do you have any of the original paperwork from when you bought it 50 years ago?

  12. clp69,
Nope. It may be buried in my aunt's house somewhere, but I doubt that I'll find it. Here's the back story. My aunt is 99 years old and gave the car to me a few months ago. It had been resting on flat tires in her garage for about 20 years. I had it towed to a fellow here in Reno who is a muscle car guy that restores vehicles like this. I didn't have him do a complete restoration. I just had the car put back into perfect running condition. My intent in doing that was simply to get it ready to sell. I'm not a car guy, so what I know about the GS in general comes from asking people at the ROA for help. I've reached out to the person who asked for the image of the tag to help clarify what on it proves it's a GS. Sorry don't know anything more about this car.

Based on what I have seen, This is a genuine GS. Has some issues yes but man its got great bones. Buckets/console, headrests and passenger recliner coupled with GS option and appears no rust!!!!!
Just to clarify, nothing on the Fisher Body Tag confirms GS option on this car. I used other methods to determine its authenticity. I haven't seen the axle code yet but have no concerns at this time.

    Hi Tony,
Sometimes original documentation for a car can be very important to certain buyers and increase its value. They are historical documents of significance and if they exist, should stay with the car. If there is anyway you can look for and find them, it would help obtain max value for the car.
If you can locate and photograph the PY axle code, that will also help put buyers at ease.

That looks identical to the 67GS I gave to my nephew in California back about 15 years ago which he sold. I bought it from a guy in Ohio if I remember right. In that sort of condition. Star Wars air cleaner, etc. Paperwork is important to verify the background on cars like this. Where they came from, etc. If my mother was alive she would be 105.

Amazing. I had no idea what happened to it. Hope you are enjoying it. Now that you mention it Kentucky rings a bell. I vaguely remember having a set of antique Kentucky license plates. Maybe it was the Grand National I bought that was from Ohio or Indiana perhaps. My bad. Although it is strikingly similar.
