Seeing the "roll" under those front and rear fins makes me wanna take a nice terri cloth towel and wrap it around my arm and rub some carnauba wax off... and sniff it! Probably get a whiff of Buick pheromone. Only a few bubble tops have "it" and that's one for sure! ws
Just wanted to bring this full circle. We went and picked up the car earlier this week. The car was everything and more. When we arrived it was sitting under a car cover and my dad correctly guessed it was a 60' Buick. He was surprised to say the least. We also met up with Lucas for dinner and beers. Great guy and his Riviera is pretty darn slick. Amazing what you can get done with the help of this forum.
Great to meet you guys, too! Oliver (Heloman) and his dad are a super nice couple of fellas, with some darn fine looking rides. Thanks for dinner and beers! Keep me posted on the progress with it, happy to help anytime.....
This is my fleet for now. I have had the Chevelle since I bought it for $800 when I was 15. It has gone through a few different builds. Currently adding fuel injection and a few other goodies. The Blazer is almost out of paint prison and will be bone stock. The Nailhead powered 55 Chevy truck is almost ready to fire and I will post a video of that over in the Nailhead section. The Vista Cruiser is just a bone stock cruiser.
A few updates. My dad is making some quick progress. He sorted out all the mechanical/electrical gremlins that plague a car that hasn’t been kept up. He replaced the entire exhaust, rebuilt the carbuetor, belts, hoses etc. Even got the clock working. He enjoyed driving it for a few months and even freshened up the interior. He decided it was time for paint. Had the car dustless blasted and then it went in for paint. The car was originally a baby blue/white two tone. He flipped the colors and went with a 2018 Buick Dark Blue. I forget the name of it. All the trim and bumpers were sent out and will be going back one. He also is having the inner fenders and wheels powder coated. Plans to run the stock wheel covers with a 2.5” whitewall. I wish I could find a painter that works as fast as his did. Only took two months from blasting to paint sprayed. They spent a lot of time getting the gaps right and blocking it.
A few in progress pictures of the paint job. They said they have about a week left to cut and buff it.
Looking good, Oliver! Man, I think about that car quite a bit and wish I would've kept it to myself hahaha.....but, it went to the right place. You guys are doing an awesome job and I'd be about 3 years behind your progress. Tell your dad Hi, and thanks again for dinner. I tell my buddies about him and his stories about GM
Oliver, you have some sweet rides. That Chevelle is a definite show winner. All your vehicles are very nice. Keep us undated on the progress of the truck.
Mitch, Neither of us does Facebook. In fact dad still has a flip phone and no computer. I know you are one of the 60 Buick gurus and do have a question. I’ll send you a private message now. Dad has the car back from paint. He’s excited to get some nice whitewalls and all the chrome back on. The color really changes from the shade to direct sunlight. It is a Buick color but, off something newer.
OK Oli: The car looks sensational. The color was offered in 61 for Buick and I don't know why they missed 60 with it. When you drive that thing around be prepared for a whole-lotta honkun' !Mitch
All back together. he uses it as his primary driver. Installed new shocks and springs. Maybe it will settle in a few hundred miles.
Several “Wows!” on this thread! A Buick member helping another member complete a long time dream, ANYONE having the same job for 50 years in these days(!). A collection of beautiful cars amassed by his sons and finally a jaw dropping beautiful 60. Excellent, excellent excellent on ALL parts, thank you for sharing this with us, great story : ) As a fellow 60 owner please send my best wishes & congratulations to your father. Kindest Regards, John Fritz
