Got up this morning to 14 degrees F. Now I know that's not cold to some of you, but it's damn cold to me know that my Chicago (previous location) blood has thinned out. And, I don't have the clothes for this kind of crap anymore. Plus we have sleet and some snow, so all, and I mean all overpasses and bridges are closed, interstate 12/55/10 are closed in various locations. And the airport is closed in New Orleans. Heat pumps, all three are screaming wide open, no heat strips on yet. Son's work sent out a notice they would be closed today. This is Mardi Gras time, time for the cold to go away. Fortunately I'm retired and can just sit in the house and wait for warmer stuff. The rest of you stay warm and safe.
Gonna be close to freezing here in sunny SW Florida tonight. The prediction is 34 F. I'll have to cover the Tomatoes. I realize that I'm not gonna get a lot of sobs from y'all, but it's cold as hell here.
9 degrees here in central Alabama this morning, the coldest I have seen it since we moved here 10+ years ago. We had a high of 29... I'm ready for spring!
Houston was 19 last night (Official Temp). I woke up to frozen pipes despite them being "Insulated". Cleared by 10:30 with help of heat gun & Dryer. (Dryer vent next to outside water pipe) Have additional wrapping & Temp "Box" over pipe tonight. Expecting low of 20, then back to the 70 by end of week & Rain. Louisiana about 8-14 hrs. behind weather wise. JR
Funny how we get used to our own climates, I will never forget on out honeymoon we went on cruise from FL in winter on 08/09 It was in the low 60s, we were in the pool enjoying it, the locals were in Eskimo coats, came back to Ohio to sub zero temps.......nothing like 20 to 50 below. That's flat as$ getting down there
Better light those smudge pots! It was MINUS 88F in , Srednekolymsk Russia yesterday... then theres the 60 mph breeze... Locals called it a mild spring. ws
Temps have been all over the place here in MI. In the teens with snow and below average temps to near 50 and rain. Hasn't snowed for a couple days but the wind was blowing the snow, already on the ground, across the roads. This weekend, high 40s and rain. Then back to below average temps for the next few days after. This has been one crazy weather pattern.
