I messaged him to say the paperwork is only really worth it to the current owner. Kind of a attitude . He Said. There are a LOT of collectors that would be willing to buy it for their collections of paperwork ???? Not at $2000

I really hope that people aren't sending nasty grams to the seller. I appreciate the support, but the messages could backfire for me and make the situation more sticky than it already is. I really think the documents were put up for sale to see if anyone would bite. After all they are a rare set of original documents for a rare car. He did reach out to me and offered them at a lower price, but its more than I feel they are worth. My biggest concern is that someone else may purchase the set to create a clone and a huge headache for me in the future.

    Make him an offer George.
Factory papaer work is a good imvrstment for your car.
Like you say, i hope people steer clear of the guy with the papers. You two need to hash this out yourselves.
Good luck and hope you come to terms w the gentleman.

I could be way off base here, but it seems to me the seller does not own that paperwork. It goes to the current owner of the car. What do you lawyer types say about that?

I'm not a lawyer, but technically it makes sense. However so much time has passed I doubt any statute would apply.

The only thing in that paperwork that has any value is the POP plate itself. The rest of the stuff is easy to come by and maybe has a total value of 75.-100. tops. I am still looking for one of the 1970 Skylark Disc Buick Consumer Information pamphlets. If anybody has one shoot me a PM please. I do have the correct vintage punch for those.

That depends on the terms of sales contract if such exits. The title would be the only real ownership document which must be conveyed. Plus, POPs only name the original owner.

The applicable statute of limitations would be tied to the state whose laws govern the sales contract in question. They vary by state.

After 40 years and a few owners later,I can't see anyway that you can say the current owner of the POP must give the POP to the current owner of the car. That's foolish thinking. Yes,the POP belongs to the car,but it's not in the current owners name either. As for the statement that someone might buy it and duplicate the car with it with this piece pf paperwork, did you think of this before posting it? The owner has the car with the VIN Plate, the title of said car and has legal ownership,so how could that possibly be done with a Protecto plate alone? I myself, would contact the seller like he apparently did, tell him my story etc and hope the guy wont sell it. Maybe after he has it on Ebay awhile, and it wont bring anything,he will reconsider selling to the owner at an even lower price..Time people...Time...

I think in time they will come to an agreement.
It should be with the car if he is a car guy.
But car owner has to understand it his his decision to make.
Like said here, lucky it is not a 70 Chevelle SS 396 or 454.
If I had the car i would work out a deal.

Good Car Guy Karma is always appreciated but non-enforceable. If it were me and it was someone I knew I might just hand it over to reunite car and paperwork. If it was just a person that had the car I would want to get something for it. Not 2 grand mind you but something! In tracking down parts for my basketcase 70 Stage 1 - I actually found some original parts removed by a previous owner including the rallye steering wheel and original hood. He knew I wanted it pretty badly and he did NOT believe in good car guy karma. In the end, I paid way more than they were worth at the time, but he had me over a barrel and we both knew it. He hadn't owned the car for 10 years and was not into Buicks. You know what he WAS into? Making money. He liked that a lot. Sometimes you just pay.

Hey guys - I'm new to the Buick site and this is my first time posting.
I have been reading all of your comments about the 1970 GSX that Roman Seneski bought new in 1970, and the fiasco concerning the original paperwork, etc.
I talked to Roman a few weeks ago and he told me that his brother Bill still has the original window sticker from this car.
I then talked to his brother Bill about the window sticker and he said he would look for it but it might take a few days to find it.
So I am just waiting to hear from him. I am hoping that he will just give it to me. I would then GIVE it to the person who owns the car now. That is where it belongs.

Now that's worth a WHOLE lot more in my book than a POP. Would be one of the coolest automotive stories if that piece is reunited with the car - right there next to Pat having, and giving to the new owner, the orig. engine & trans. For a '71 GSX.

In the case of the '69 PC Camaro, that's ALL the paperwork, not just a POP.

Sure, hypothetically, 2 IDENTICAL (impossible) cars the one with the POP is worth more, but really not much ($200?). I was always happy to get them, but not a big deal to not.

As stated, for a '71 or an LS6 yes, worth a LOT more.

The window sticker would be worth more to me than the POP,and If it were me,I'd be a little more interested in paying money for it,but if the guy offers it up for free, that's a great gesture! It sure would be great to see them all reunited... I have 2 more things I'd like to reunite stuff with.1 is a buildsheet from a 70 El Camino 454 4 speed vinyl roof car build sheet and the other for a 70 396 Chevelle Red with red interior. BOTH were left in one of my 70 Skylark's I had. I did the same thing on the Chevelle and El Camino forums but no one stepped up yet.

    Like Pat

I have a build sheet for a Red 72 Stage 1 that I would like to see united, but to date, no luck.

    Cheers
