    Hey guys,

Back to working on the Buick after some other life events.

Anywho, I am in the process of getting the engine ready for final assembly, and as such, I want to get the firewall done and ready.

First thing is getting the AC condenser box cleaned up and back on the firewall. Cleaned the box last weekend and scrubbed the hell out of it. It came out pretty good and now is to scuff up the outside to hit it with some clear coat. The internals I am in the process of figuring out and need to hit Factory Auto Air who restores these systems and re-calibrates them for R-134A. As for sealing the box I got that sorted out as well.

The thing i am really looking for is a kit for all the seals on the inside of the box. There were some foam type strips that need replacing, as well as all the system on the inside of the cab under the firewall. OPGI (not my #1 choice) used to have a kit, but now it appears it is only for the pre-68 cars. Does anyone know of some where that sells a kit to reseal the HVAC system on these cars?

    Thanks!

    Scott

    Thanks for the info Brian!!

I checked them out but didn’t see a kit. I might be able to piece something together. I guess looking at the service manual might show what seals are where.

Factory auto air can also rebuild the heater core box and replace those seals

    Thanks Scott!

I actually sent the internals out to them for re-calibration and testing. I didn't send the box as it is in good shape. I will have to get some pictures to put up so that I can get a better detail of what i am looking for.

    regards,

    Scott

I bought some 3M strip caulk. When I took the box apart, it looked as if the evaporator was sealed with a tarry substance on all sides. I did not see any foam seals. I have no way of knowing whether anyone has ever taken it apart before me. It looked original. The only seal I saw was the two hole rubber/foam seal where the big pipe exits the box. I think the 3M strip caulk should do the job. I'll use it to seal the 2 halves of the box together as well. Guess I'll clear the outside of the box as well. I bought a brand new parallel flow evaporator to replace my old one. Plan to buy a condenser like that as well.

I bought the kit in post #6. Are all those seals used, or is that a universal kit? Reviews say it needs better instructions.
