I just bought these 72 Buick GS 455 convertible with 42,xxx miles on it from a 82 year old friend I worked with for years. He retired in 99 and I finally got enough money to buy it. The only thing is it was sitting in the garage since 1989. Before the weather got crappy here in Ohio we got it fired up and it purrs like a kitten(very large kitten). Was hoping to ask so question? Like what weight oil would you guys recommend?
Brad penn 15 40 the green oil that is what is in my 1971 stage 1 Alain PS congrats on your new toy awesome
Congrats on your purchase! Nice looking ‘72. You’re going to get a lot of opinions on oil choices so you might want to do a search on the forum for some of the oil related threads to understand why some choose one over the other. I use Valvoline VR1 10w30 and a Wix 51258 filter.
That sounds like good advice, I was told by a local friend to get the zinc additive so I wouldn't mess the engine up with the new style oil. I guess I've got a lot to catch up on.
I can't be positive and I might not be smart enough to tell, but I think so. I have to replace the trunk floor. It was rusted under the rubber mat. All and all the car is in great shape just need to go over it real good. Cant take it for a drive yet the brakes seals leaked all the fluid out while it set since 1989.
Fred is our local Buick hoarder lol Welcome to the V8 Board, Ron. Very very nicely equipped Gran Sport, buddy. Best wishes from North Carolina : )
P.S. You might want to purchase the Sloan report on that car for how it was equipped on day one, but we can decode several items with a picture of the rivited "cowl tag" on the top of the firewall on the drivers side & VIN
I was hoping to find the build sheet in the car any idea where to look? I will take a picture of the cowl tag when I walk up to the shop. Another question what is the safe way to take the pin stripe off the side?
