Factory A/C Install

    Never had an issue with an evaporator coming back because I tig weld them and then I pressure test them with 300psi of nitrogen. The evap will never see pressures anywhere near that high. Ive probably welded easily over 100 of them. But I give 90 days to give guys time to install and run them.

    Okay. I just wish I could test them myself lol I hate to send them out to you in Texas and they turn out to be fine, but that's wishful thinking. They most likely need a rebuild and I want this system to work for a long time.

    Yea it kinda sucks to have spend money on shipping but it would suck even more to have everything installed only to have to remove parts all over again. Unfortunately many guys take this route on hopes or thoughts that everything will be fine in a system that in approaching half a century in age. Some get lucky but most don't.

    you may be able to find a shop locally that can test the evap. If you send the poa and exp valve, ill check them. If they are ok, no charge. Just pay for the shipping back to you. If you want the poa valve recalibrated, its $25

    Okay when I disassemble the system ill be in touch.

    Can you recommend me an affordable parallel flow condenser?

    What blower motor do you buy?

    and is the gum cord and cork tape you use functional? Its preventing leaks? or is it just for the factory look?

    Im not sure if anyone is manufacturing a bolt-in parallel flow cond for the buick A-body. If anyone is it would be CAA. Ill be using a universal for my car.

    I pefer the ones from Advance Auto. At least they are made in Canada. The ones ive gotten from Oriellys and Autozone have been from China

    Gum cord and cork are functional. gum cord seals the housing and gum cord isolates the sensing bulb on the expansion valve. I can provide both if needed

    Yeah I don't mind if its a universal fit, I figured there wouldn't be a bolt up one.

    and I watched your completed a/c video and I see what youre talking about the functionality of the gum cord and cork. I've been looking for gum cord and i cant seem to find it online, where do you get it?

    I get in from an hvac supply store but I have found it online. just prefer to pick it up as its right down the road from me. Only thing is that it is sold in large rolls. You probably wouldn't use it up in your lifetime unless you work in hvac

    I just disassembled the evaporator/blower motor assembly except disconnecting the poa valve from the evaporator, that fitting does not want to come loose.

    Anyway, I gotta question, the expansion valve line was cut between the valve to the sensing bulb, can you still restore it and attach it back or do I need to buy a new one?

    That can happen sometimes where fittings don't want to come loose. You have be careful not twist the aluminum tubes. If anyone of the two lines on the expansion valve is broken, the exp valve in no good anymore. You can purchase a new aftermarket one relatively inexpensive.

    There are no direct bolt in parallel flow condensers being produced that I know of. but if anyone is going to have a bolt-in PF condenser, it would most likely be Original Air Group in Tampa Fl. I just use universal PF condensers as they are inexpensive and I make my own lines/hoses.

    Okay ill check them out. I cannot get the POA valve off the evaporator, there's like no way lol its been on there for 50 years. I bent the evaporator tube a little too.

    Okay, I want to send you my evaporator and my POA Valve. How much to test each of them?

    No charge to test the poa. $25 to recalibrate. $25 to test the evap. plus whatever shipping is back to you
