I'm looking for a quality floor jack to lift my car more than the standard 19-20". I got a deal on some summit foam race ramps that go under the tire. They are 12" and my jack is not tall enough. I guess I could put a block of wood between the jack and car but not keen on that idea.
    Thanks Reber

I have an OTC 2 ton that goes from 3 1/2" to 24". I've had it 11 years and it's been great. It also has a life time warranty. I think that I paid around $400 for it.

Thanks. I'm an hour from Summit Racing an never thought of them until after I posted. 24" seems the limit before huge price jump.

Thanks. I picked up a jack at Summit Racing. I love it! My old jack would not lower a car slowly easily.

Thanks Rex. I have not seen those before. The 24" light is almost enough. I put a 2x6 between the jack and frame for the extra lift

Sounds like mine. OTC #1717. Bought it in November of 2004. Paid $434 plus tax.

Has always been a little stiff to pump up. Last April or May, I popped the yoke the handle goes into. Non-serviceable, because the jack frame is a WELDED ASSEMBLY. I sent it to the OTC service station via truck freight. OTC allowed the warranty claim. OTC is supposed to send me a "similar" jack, but it's 1) imported, and 2) out of stock. I drove 160 miles round-trip, reclaimed my broken jack, brazed and bolted it back together. Looks like Frankenstein's Monster...but it works. Still waiting on the replacement. Thanks for this thread. I'm gonna "jack-up" OTC tomorrow and see when the hell my new jack is going to arrive.

They've told me I'm going to receive a #5202 as a replacement. It only lifts to 18 1/4". I'm not enthused.

Is the one pictured with the goofy handle the 5202 replacement? That looks like a harbor Freight special that sells for $49. Mine is a 1525 and if it breaks, I wouldn't be happy with that for a replacement. I don't purchase a product because of the warranty because most companies now days are just a name that used to make quality products. Now they just import cheap crap from China. I sure hope that mine doesn't break.

    Yes.

I like the longer frame. Not too sure about the plastic wheels. Lower lift height bothers me. I expect it's Chinese, but I don't know for sure...could be S. Korean or Taiwanese or even Viet Namese.

I'm glad I reclaimed my 1717. I think the 1525 is the non-quick-lift version of what I have.

Craftsman 3 ton , lifts high enough to install hooker super comps from underneath on jackstands with no problems.

    No, it's probably a 1980's vintage.

Dont buy cheap floor jacks. Surgery, plate& screws. 4 months off my feet. One of those Discount auto parts 3 ton jacks. Crack the valve to lower it and it comes down really fast. No time to get out of the way. I know Im partially to blame in this.

The quickest way to tell a good jack from a cheap unit is to look at the frame. If it's "C" channel it's decent. If it's simply flat stock it's cheap.

I spent around 300.00 on a 3 ton from Napa. American made. Had it 4 years now and use it often. works perfect with very good lowering control. American made
