5s in the 1/8th isnt easy to do no matter what platform you plan to use. you looking at a low 9.30s in the 1/4. in a 3500 lbs car you going to need about 925 hp, at 3000 lbs you could get away with more like 800.

weight would be the thing I worry about most if your goals was to be in the 5s,

as mentioned 5s take a proper built car with good suspension to put that down and keep it down and great safety equipment for the just incase.

you said small tire........seeing lots of x275 cars go through the 4s on what's basically a 28x10 tires are the limiting factor

our 464 putting out 700ish went 6.70s in the 1/8th and the converter wasn't even in the game with only getting 1.49 short times........I feel I should be closer to 1.4 with our combo. if figured correctly that should get my 10.10s to upper 10.0s, or mid 6.30s in the 1/8th. our car is 3800 pounds on 29x10s. if wanted it's a small plate kit from the 5s, our 464 isnt huge, 12:1, good CNC ported stage 2 te heads, solid cam near .600 lift, basic th400, 4.10 gears.

my car has full interior still so I do have some weight I could shed, but I like having it there, makes it look more tame.

How much patience do you have? How much passion? do you want it to be solely the Buick? You will be a pioneer no doubt and you also be a head Turner in this. Are you in this for Glory, pride or just self satisfaction?

People that are loyal to a brand have lots of patience and they've been waiting for a long time. We all know that. It's just so easy to go to the other side where parts are available once the patience has run out.

Cost will vary because it depends on what you want to do. At one point, all these parts will be similarly priced given the performance standpoint or requirement. Buicks and some other makes start out with a big outlet cash up first at the lower level.

but what I found very interesting is when you have someone from the Chevy or Ford or Mopar camps come in and buy Buick after seeing one run. They try to build one up, the excitement is there. The read and follow the communities to absorb. You know you also got to thank that Car Craft article.

Now there are people now saying at the track or forums say, "watch out for Buicks too!" We have always been the 'Unicorn' in racing.

I will say this though, racing technology evolution for the Buick will always be an internal fight amongst the Community. The purist and the open mindedness to think out of the box.

This actually hurts racers that want to be at the forefront and be competitive which is why some just leave and go to the other makes.
