Anybody ever do it to a 4wd square body? I’ve had this thought in my head for a while now as I’m sick of my 6.2 diesel.

People are weird. I was showing the engine in the Buchev to a couple of guys at a car dealership. The aluminum valve covers clearly say BUICK on them in large letters; one guy asked "Is that a Pontiac motor?"

I could be wrong , but isn’t he the one that later put a 455 in that yellow corvair?

Oh yeah, I remember that Corvair. I've got pictures of it somewhere.

Not a Buick. But in the yard there are a couple of 455 Olds motors in square bodies. They just use the diesel truck mounts on them. This one is being parted

I have a '79 Chevrolet short bed getting a 455. Been wondering if there wold be any fitment problems so I am glad I read this post. Remote oil filter on its way now!
Took the engine/long tail 400 out of a 71 LeSabre and took the frame mounts at the same time. Man, glad to hear those will come in handy too.
Need a rear main cap and line bore, then reassembly.
