    another shot
yeah personally I dont go for the HotWheels look , my GS had 20x295s on it when I bought it, as well as originals.
    I sold the 20's for a handy 2K

Ok got my 15x10" widened wheels back today and got the 295 50 15 street rubber fitted...Whith the 5 3/4" backspacing they juuuust fitted on the outside.
Driving around now tryng to make them scrape but cant
and I went to 245 60 15 on the fronts
    for equal rolling diameters. 20190614_142128.jpg 20190614_161349.jpg 20190614_165638.jpg 20190614_165712.jpg 20190614_165728.jpg

What is your clearance to the inside at the closest point?

theres a good half inch easily,
thought I may need to tickle the lower shock mount with a grinder but no , she clears nicely.

    Question about future combo.
    Rear: Wheel, Street Lite, Aluminum, Black, 15 in. x 10.0 in., 5 x 4.75 in. Bolt Circle, 5.50 in. Backspace + P315/60R15 ET STREET R. Should I go to P325/50R15 ET STREET R ?
Front: Wheel, Street Lite, 15 in. x 4 in., Aluminum, Black, 5 x 4.75 in. Bolt Circle, 1.625 in. Backspace OR 2.250 in. Backspace ?

Both will reduce the rear gear ratio because they are taller than the stock tire height (26.6)

    315/60 is 29.88" tall ( Multiply by .89)
    325/50 is 27.79" tall (multiply by .95)

Go with as close to zero offset as you can.

Your rear wheels are actually 11" from edge to edge, so 5.5" backspace would be zero offset.

Your front wheels are actually 5" from edge to edge, so 2.5" back space would be zero offset

2.250" back space would be -.25" offset. I would go with that given the choice. See what other guys running skinnies say.

    4.11 in the back !
As for the skinnies I was running 3.5 in and MICHELIN 155/80 R15.
    I would like something larger since now I've a 455 vs a 350.

I know there are always questions about what tire and rim combo's will fit which vehicles so I thought I would post a couple of pics with details. Car is a 73GS with stock front and rear suspension, HR Parts kit in rear and KYB gas adjust all around. Fronts are Cooper Cobra GT 235/70-15 on 15 x 7's, 4 inch BS and rears are MT ET street 295/65-15 on 15 x 10's, 5.5 inch BS imagejpeg_0.jpg imagejpeg_0.jpg . Hope it's helpful to someone.

Steve just want to clarify. Do you mean 295/55-15 in the rear? I run those on my '76 and they fit well on 15x10's and they are 28" tall. 295/65 would be 30"+ which is TALL.

    Hi Mike,
No, they are 65's...see pics in post above yours. Definitely fill the wheel wells but they don't rub. Running 3.73's so pretty good on highway, 2600-2700rpms @ 65mph.

I know I am late to the party but if it is not too late. If possible I would go with a 5.75 backspace on those rear wheels. And then if you need to space them out a little bit a 1/4" spacer would fine tune the fit.

OZGS455 Oh what a wonderful day!

Yep thats the backspace I came up with and used and theres just enough clearance to outer lip, (1/4" spacer would make mine rub)
    Thats on 71 Skylark

Perfect.. my car is cut up, custom frame, 10” added to each wheelwell and 18.5” wide tires fit no problem. It does help the traction, 4.56 gears, 4 speed auto with 3800 stall converter it’s violent.

18.5" wide tires? What's wrong, couldn't find anything wider?

Well I do use pizza cutter 31x16.5-15 tires for the street... It is fun being able to stomp it and go without tire spin. Leaving at 3800 with the turbos spooled up is a pretty violent launch.

    UPDATE UPDATE UPDATE!!!
had people in the back seat and the raised white letters just touch over undulations at speed, could've backspaced another quarter inch in retrospect.
A light shave of the lip with a cutoff wheel will fix it though.
Thought I'd better amend this for others sakes
