I'm looking for a black bench seat with arm rest for my 71 GS Convertible.. I have a beautiful brown one to trade if you need,,,,
I know.... Trying not to put $700 or more into a seat.... Once you get done buying the seat cover from legendary interiors and then paying somebody to do it you have a seat that cost more than $700.... I'm trying to avoid that .. I drive the car as often as possible,I rebuilt it so I could enjoy it not just sit in a parking lot and stare at it...
Really?.... How did you do it and what brand did you use...?.. I'm unfamiliar with the process.. did you actually take the seat and put it in some type of dye? Was it a spray-on product? How does it work?
According to the order sheet/form, the 1971 GS convertible (Model 3467) was NOT available with a BLACK notchback seat (armrest bench). The notchback was available only in green (158), pearl white (155), and saddle (156). The convertible was also available in standard bench (no armrest) in sandalwood (134) and black (138). Buckets were not available* SCO cars not included.* http://v8buick.com/index.php?threads/71-gs-order-form-questions.331905/#post-2787447 post #6 Your seat would have to come from a 1971 GS sport coupe (Model 3437) trim 158
SEM is the brand. Landau Black is the color. Spray on vinyl dye. I changed my entire interior with the exception of front seat, ( went with poly racing buckets with padded covers) and headliner, which will be replaced. Prep/cleaning is the key, before applying dye. Jim
Man someone just sold a black one on the forum. I made a Big Deal about it cause it was beautiful and priced right. Somebody jumped on it in minutes.
Well, I guess that the Buick order sheet is wrong, and I guess that the ORIGINAL Buick sales guide is wrong. That is where I got my information. Hey, I'm just trying to help you out for both accuracy AND resources. Sometimes it makes absolutely no sense why one trim option is available across the entire line, but then they flip and DON'T put a trim option in the same style. Why limit the trim/color combo on the similar platform to a specific body style... By the way, I like your car: My 71 GS convertible is also Lime Mist Green (code 43), With sport mirrors.
