I know this is a tall order, I am looking for the air assembly piece that holds the foam cups and mounts to the air filter housing. I have a great housing and perfect foam cups but the assembly that holds the cups is not going to make it for what I'm after. Any help is much appreciated.
This Piece ? IF you don't find any OEM ones they are reproduced by TPP and are actually pretty nice! (You probably already knew this but . . . .maybe somebody else reading this will be interested) Here is some more info if interested . . . . http://www.v8buick.com/index.php?th...-air-inlet-assembly-pics-and-comments.347760/ .
Thanks Alain, I'll look into that. Yes Todd, I knew TPP was redoing those but I don't need the cups, just the front assembly that the cups mount to. Alain, if Platex is used, will it need to be painted?
The Plastex kit has two colors one light and one dark some finish and sanding will be needed Finish with satin finish clear cote Alain
JB Weld is another option. You can form it by containing the shape you want with regular masking tape and then the tape peels off perfectly once it cures. Good luck, Mike
Thanks Mike, at least now I know I've got options. Ill figure something out. A huge thank you to Todd Miller. He has guided me on a number of things and has spent tons of time on the phone with me...it's a wonder he's had time to work. He told me about buffing out the plastic with compound. Here are the before and after shots of the cups.
I did bead blast them with a low pressure and that's when I compounded them. Not alot of black in them. Awfully grey.
... from what I've learned, the EARLIER air filter SNORKELS were molded in Grey... went to black in 71 ish...
