Just finished my install GZ motorsports pump with all the covid downtime ..Also needed to show off Steve Reynolds awesome valve covers ..
Looks good. How many inches of vacuum are you running? Is that the relief valve on the pump in between the line? Covers look like mine! Lol
Yes that's the vacuum control bleed ..this pump is a little on the large side for the little 464 ... building a bigger engine wanted to get it fitted now .turned it down to about 5 in at idle only revved it up in garage to 4000-5000 pulling around 10 in ..I will need to play with it ....
Can I get better pictures of how its mounted? I'm guessing its not a "bolt on kit" you can buy? I've been looking to get system.
Thank you sir!! Much appreciated. Your setup looks GOOD! I'll be running a GZ pump on my Tomahawk also..... curious to see how well it works and how it survives street usage.
I went with GZ pump as they claim they will survive an oily climate and some street miles we will see ...great service from them bill was great to deal with
I like that mounting Steve ..I think the passenger side would have been my choice but I didn't want to relocate the alternator etc at this time who knows I may change it after .
Unfortunately I bought a universal kit it was a treat trying to make it fit .all part of our Buicks .I turned the BBC pulley to fit inside the ATI hub ...turned the spacers down to .450 from .500 etc etc until it all worked ..making your own mounting plate would be less frustrating I think
Gentleman I also run the GZ pump on my street car just over 600 miles with and no problem. From what I know these pumps have to get oil for lubricating the vanes. If they don't, they will seize!(that's what I was told). At idle I am at 3 inches and cruising around normally 7 inches and with 3/4 throttle I see 10 inches. I need a recording camera for wide open throttle, haven't done that yet.
Where are you pulling vacuum ? Is it baffled ..I yet to see any oil in the hose but I haven't driven it out of the garage
exact same place you are from valve cover just like the first picture. Yes, I have tact welded a small baffle underneath each opening of the valve covers. I have been spraying in a little shot of oil into the pump to help it, worry it's not sucking enough oil. I think I have only seen about 3 or 4 drops come out of my puke tank. Are you referring vacuum for the gauge? from the back of the intake where a pcv valve area would go. that's welded up with a fitting for the gauge.
Curious to see HP #s with and without vac pump. We ran Super Stock and it was not allowed but we sure discussed it while on the dyno!
Hi Kevin, If my memory serves me right we gained 34hp with vacuum pump. Taking into consideration that my engine is setup for a vacuum pump, low tension ring package. Numbers before we did the cam upgrade, so max power was 910hp and approx 875hp with no vacuum. Cheers
I've posted this before, but I think it's worth referencing again. Especially with some big Tomahawks hopefully in the works. This is from George Bryce from NHRA Pro Stock motorcycle fame. https://www.yellowbullet.com/threads/more-about-vacuum-pumps.531428/
