OZ, you could order the headlight wiring kit as well. This is a plug & Play and will not tax your OEM wiring. Gets power straight from the battery to run the headlights and only uses OEM headlight plug as a trigger.

 

Well at 48W , with original sealed beams being 60/40W then I doubt it's gonna tax the wiring system .
I've ordered the LEDs just waiting for the sun to rise and my local parts shop to open so I can price the H4 shells against the ones above.

Just thinking, hmm, could I use same type in inner high beam location with the low beam wire snipped?

 

Exactly what I did but I didn’t snip the wire. I used a pigtail and left that one disconnected.

Just put up a story of what I been up to in isolation, it's a good read if ya got nothin better

 

OK, got the Hi/Lo outer pair fitted and working fine in the garage,
still waiting on two more LED globes to show up. (bought from different online suppliers)
Discovered the 3 orientation pegs on the inner just Hi beam shells are clocked different to the Hi/Lo outers.
I'm thinking that when I go to fit the new H4 shells to the inner buckets they don't line up (just tried 'em)
I can however "make them fit" by either moving the pegs on the headlight shells...OR....wait for it....
cutting 3 new location holes into the original buckets, which wouldn't be the end of the world, but not something Id like to do.
The floor is open......................................

@RoseBud68, where is the upgraded harness available from, like is there an ebay link to it or what?

 

You can get more buckets so if cutting them is easy, go for it.

I took a pair of needlenose pliers and reconfigured the metal tabs on mine to get them to line up. You could also possibly put outer buckets in the inner spots. I haven't tried it but it might be easier if you can get some spares. I don't think they were a Buick only part.

Thanks mate, sounds good and price is right though lousy Aussie dollar 58c at the moment and falling, plus postage and customs is likely to Jack it up to around a hundred.
Once the other pair of LEDs arrive and I get them fitted I'll make a decision, I can get a pair of 100W aircraft spots quite reasonably priced, but I'll see how the LEDs go with a full set.
Went for a test run last night and these Hi Li outers come with optional yellow or blue filters, tried the blue and they look great from outside but I reckon I'll get better vision with just the raw white light.
I'll experiment with filters and adjustment once they all arrive.

They look great. The tap on mine did not line up to the factory bucket either. I made sure the new lens where straight and didn't bother with the taps. The ring hold the light secure and in place. So far no issue with them moving.

 

Sounds good mate, when the other pair of LEDs arrive I'll give it a whirl, just flatten the tabs and a dab of Sikaflex, I'm a panel beater (bodywork) after all, and quite used to making things fit and creating illusions.
Yeah I'm sure it'll all work out.

 

Ok the other LEDs arrived, by clipping some of the tab off x3,
I was able to tighten the Hi beam H4 shells down nicely, and fitted with the LEDs and the low beam tab folded back where it plugs in, I find everything fits and functions great,...and the light is Fantastic!!!
Went for a night cruise after fitting and low beam has ample white light in front as well as brilliant off to the side where furry critter can be hiding.
Hit the High beam and Everything lights up for a good distance down the road as well as both sides.
Definitely the way to go!
They're fan cooled too so emit a buzzing noise which is quite audible with the engine off though once she's running it's hard to pick em.

PS took the blue filters off the low beams to give nice crisp white light.

 

They look great. Did you aim they well so as to not blind on coming traffic?

 

No one flashed me, so I presume they're not blinding anyone.
Lows have a horseshoe type pattern from the driver's seat that perfectly suits a left hand drive car in a right hand drive country .
Now when I put the outers in a few days ago I did aim them on a big wall opposite my workshop, and dropped them a little.
As they're a horsehoe pattern vs the spot if a normal low beam gives the best of both worlds as in not blinding incoming with penetration yet giving more than ample up the sides, particularly the left, which suits me fine.
Perfect....with a better opportunity for more driving I may fine tune them even better on high beam,
For now they're Great!

Just got through my LED/H4 experience.

Greg- thanks for putting this thread and the other LED thread together.

I ended up going with the H4 harness that Manny used and bought similar H4 housings. This was plug and play. I can’t wait to get the car out at night.

 

Doesn't H4 really mean rebodied Blazer? No?

 

I'm glad I could be an inspiration to others. It had to be possible, somebody just had to go first!

I had my car out on a dark, deserted road and did a high beam, low beam check. I think my low beams could stand to come up a bit.
