I was reading you guys post and figured I would add one! This was with my daily driver, not like my 72 GS 455 but still think an interesting post. Well I was sitting at a light and sitting on my side was a nicely fixed up Ford Ranger. toke off together and was side by side with me and then I figured it was on! We went side by side for a 1/4 mile or so then at the half I started pulling away more and more then saw a the red and blues at my tail gate. The officer looked at the car then me with a smile said get moving! I stopped the officer and asked him why didn't you go after the the Ford Ranger, and the officer smiled again and said I saw you were beating him, LOL!!!
I had a few mild up grades the engine after the 3.0 was switch out with a 3.8. The dash was one thing I was proud of with installing a T Type gauge cluster, rewiring for gauges and tachometer. The custom exhaust was another one of my "brain storms".
Ran really well ! As I posted did a few things the the newly install engine and the transmission had rebuilt with a mild shift kit.
Forgot to add one other thing, I added a FE3 package with heavy duty front and rear sway bars, the only problem was they never offer this on this wagon, and found the Chevrolet X11 Citation suspension parts worked.
I like your "why not" mentality. Plane jane FWD Buick Century wagon, "why not" add a bigger six, sway bars, dual exhaust, GS wheel ( the steering wheel looks awesome!) Good stuff
Outta curiosity, whats the final drive ratio? It would be cool to swap it for something a bit deeper if its doable...... "why not"
Considering that the front wheel drive 3.8 heads in that era it could be readily feasible to add a turbo!!! The 89 Turbo Trans-Am used modified FWD heads, down to the same casting number and replacement (Warranty) heads were the same IN SOME CERTAIN CASES!!! The FWD/TTA heads had the 3 center bolt acorn nut attachment Earlier FWD's that used the 3.8 same as RWD heads (8445 heads) and you COULD use the FWD cast aluminum valve covers on a Turbo car; It just swaps the oil fill from the driver to passenger side. Yeah, I tinker with stuff...
