Stopped by my friends house to try and pry this away from him, as I have done for years but he's not budging. All original (including paint) 66 GS 4 speed! Only thing added was the exhaust tips. He's the original owner! 80 years old.
Sweet car! Bet that guy has fun messin with yah knowing you want to buy the car, and he say's "NO" One day he'll surprise yah
Just in case you are able to buy it one day, start looking for a correct upper radiator hose now. Man, that's a nice car.
Is that the original full console? Didn't know they looked like that and were padded on 4 speed 66 GS's? Wow it's pretty.. What does it have for rear gears?
I'm not a 66 expert but I found these pix online and this is what his looks like, without the extra gauges. As for rear gears, I don't know but I will ask. -
Does he drive it, or is it just another static display piece? Cozy up to his wife cause sooner or later she may have to dispose of it. I used to find Model A guys who wouldn't sell, then I'd see the car later and find out he had passed and wife got ride of it.
No he definitely doesn't drive it lol. Just starts it up every couple of months. I offered him a pretty penny but he is just too sentimental with it. I understand.
Nice, thanks for posting the pic's.. My 66 had the automatic console and it was all chromed finned metal the whole length. I only seen one 4 speed 66 GS in person and it didn't have any console. You just have to get that car.. Does he have kids or grand kids he might plan on giving it too?
Revisit the owner, and ask him to include u in his will and make u the beneficiary of the car!! I did the same thing to an elderly gentlman who owns a fabulous 1958 Pontiac Parisienne ragtop 348 + 3 deueses.
