Hi all, i made the mistake of removing the lid of the overflow tank-probably had not been removed for years. turns out the rubber gasket is streched out and the tank has deformed with heat such that the rim is not a nice rectangle and the cover cannot sit well and snap in as intended. car is a driver and not a show piece and i rather not spend the retail $ for a brand new tank. ANY ONE HAVE A GOOD TANK AND GASKET WITH GOOD MOUNTING TABS,ETC. THEY CAN PART WITH? IM IN S. FLORIDA. HECTOR
So here are the 2 that I have. The covers of both close really good, but both have a small imperfection on top [scratch] .Bruno.
Hi Dano,I was not referring to your car.I though Hector's car was a 69.I saw you were looking for a clear top.so I was not referring to you.I might have a clear top somewhere, but my garage is a mess right now,so I will not look for it right now.Bruno.
MY = Model Year. Sorry for the confusion. Hector's car is 11/69 so it's a Model Year '70 car, not a '69.
Yes the scratches on top have been declared. Yet the plastic base has been rubbed to the point of the material becoming transparent - This was not mentioned
A question for the forum? How do these work? Aren't they supposed to be airtight. And the level of liquid in relation to engine and radiator. Above both I hope.
The cover should "snap" on and be a real pain to get off. I've seen the later ones - with the black lids - come with a thin gasket that sits inside the lid, as Hector mentioned in his first post. Most likely to seal better. As for level: I usually keep it right around the "fill" mark.
