    Yeah, and if you watched the Mecum auction like last weekend, you hear the moron TV announcers Tell everybody how the GN was not reliable. lol the only issues I had with my GN were self-inflicted bad fuel injectors, thanks to octane boost, fixed under warranty, rear bearings replaced too much tire smoke during turns.lol Fixed under warranty, No difference in any other muscle car that was leaned on.

    i remember them being high 14 second cars at the time 86/87. and if you wanted to hot rod it you added a chip,LOL

    Meh. Probably the same $$ to have either car that fast these days.. the tape on the 1/4s is the equivalent of wearing bread bags for socks.

    My GN with 600 miles on it went 13.98 at 98 mile an hour. Still have the time slips without the catalytic converter 13.0’s at 102 mph on those’s great Goodyear, GT tires lol

    the reason i posted high 14teens was because when i was on leave {military} in the summer of 86 or 87 my best friend was a car porter at a pontiac dealer in illinois and we took/stole a brand new grand national saturday after they closed went to great lakes dragaway wisconsin and ran 14.80s. then returned it sunday morning lol. he seemed to alot of new cars for the weekend and never was caught! the STUPID things we did when we were young!!!!!

    First ones we saw at the GS Nationals ('87 IIRC but maybe was '86) were running low 14's & got everyone's attention. The Dodge Omni GLHS was running around the same times back then too.

    The next year @ the Nationals they were well into the 13s & then it was off to the races so to so to speak.

    My friend bought brand new 87 GN. Very low option that he ordered on purpose.. I believe the dealer gave him a booklet on just how to launch it.
    New England weather and at New England Drag way it ran 14.30 just as it came.. Different ram air into the intercooler it ran a 14.1, a tester pipe instead of the cat it ran a 13.9 and with a mild chip it went 13.7.
    Maby it was the car or the New England weather but i'm seeing some say theirs went high 13 teens bone stock.

    He ran the factory tires and didn't have any traction issues. He also launched it at I think 2,200 rpm like his booklet said.

    Wondering why some got into the 13 teens and some not as bought new off the showroom? 86 and 87 included? and some loaded with options.
    Traction wasn't a issue at all from what I saw. I realize the Turbo engines weren't factory blue printed for what thats worth but i'm thinking they were built with better tolerances than the 67 to 76 BBB's??
    Was it the luck of the car anyways that made some faster?

    Looking back at how inconsistent the turbo cars were, traction, no traction, cold air, hot humid air, electronics that were barbaric (by today’s standards) it’s no surprise that the numbers varied.
    If it was possible for Buick to keep that car in production past 1987 I’m sure engine development and electronics would have pushed the power output close to if not past 400 hp

    Let them race on a real race track like Le Mans for 10 laps (85 miles), the Hellcat will be much faster with a top speed of 199 mph.
    In that video they only reach 125 mph at the end in 11 seconds: that's not a real race, that's warming up the tyres....:cool::p:D
