    Hello,

Curious about thoughts on this combo. I have put the rotating assembly together.

72 block honed .008 to 4.32 due to less than desirable cylinder wall in 1 hole.
    Stock crank .010/.010
    Molnar rods
Autotec 26cc dish with valve notches. From JW. Not sure if they are included in 26cc or not.
    Total seal gapless 2nd
    Zero decked
    Balanced.
    Th400
    3.55 gears posi

On the wait list for stage 2se heads.

Thinking of ta c118 cam and rebuilt stock small valve 72 heads until ta become available.

Street car might take to the track once or twice in its life.

Does this combo work or is there a better cam? I do not want wild lope, or unstreetable. Power brakes a must.

    Thanks,
    Josh

You would enjoy a 113 cam more

If you for sure are going with Stage 2 heads later I would get a cam that is for those heads. Generally you want something with a bit less exhaust duration since the Stage 2s flow so well on exhaust. Most cams with bigger spilt of intake/exhaust duration are to help the weak Stage 1 exhaust ports out. I like the 608B TA but it needs 12-1 comp or more.

What’s your hp goal out of this motor?

Not sure on realistic horsepower goals. 500+ is what I hope for not really trying for 600. I will most likely change cams when the ta heads are done. I would consider a roller cam when the ta heads are done, but don't want to have to girdle the lifter bores. I want more of a sleeper cam that can run power brakes.

JW calculated compression at 10.3 with the ta stage 2 heads at approx 65cc when I ordered the pistons.

You don't have to girdle the lifter bores for all but the most serious cams .....anything you would be willing to street drive will nor need a girdle

For what you want and desire I would run that 230/236 TA grind can't remember its # ...but it will work fine with the 72 irons and work well with the stage 2s....pretty sure it's the shootout cam...made 530ish with box stock stage 2s and 10.5 to comp with plenty of vac

Thank you for the replies. I will check the catalog and try to find that cam.
